简介
"Junkyard Waltz" is the first studio release from Freekbass in nearly 5 years. While he has since released a live CD ("Grooveyard", 2008) and a concert DVD ("Sliver of Shiver", 2007), Junkyard Waltz took 4 years to complete, due mostly to a heavy tour schedule. Executive Produced by Bootsy Collins, and Co-Produced by Tobe "Tobotius"Donohue and Freekbass, the CD features a variety of guest artists, including: Buckethead, on guitar, "Big Bang Bionic" Bernie Worrell (P-Funk & Talking Heads), on keyboards, "Higher" and "X-Ray Vision" Bootsy Collins, on drums, "Pretty Heavy Balance" Mike Gordon (Phish), a bass duet with Freekbass on "Junkyard Waltz" Jen Durkin (Rhythm Devils & Deep Banana Blackout), additional vocals on "Junkyard Waltz" Gary "Mudbone" Cooper (P-Funk), additional vocals on "Junkyard Waltz" and "Body Good" Freekbass provides the glue for each artistic collaboration with his signature bass playing and vocals. The CD begins with two big, bold tracks, "Get It Go" and "Big Bang Bionic" (featuring Buckethead). "Junkyard Waltz" features all bass, no guitars, with bassists Mike Gordon and Freekbass swapping lead and dueling on the four-strings. "Critical Condition" loosely portrays a nearly fatal accident Freekbass experienced in 2005 while on tour in Montana, and "TV in My Head" reflects cheekishly on decades of American television. His touring crew, drummer Chip Wilson and guitarist T-Sly, round out the musicianship on this album. Also featured, the vocals of Bootzilla recording artists Candice Cheatham and D-Jizzle and rap artists B-Czar and Piakhan. The hard copy of the CD features eleven tracks including a bonus track not available on the digital download version: "Twilight Zone", a song originally recorded by Golden Earring in 1982. Freekbass builds upon the original with a slightly slower funk tempo, a lot more bass and the stylings of Tobotius on the turntables.
