Reggie Graves, grew up in Greensboro, NC, was inspired by his father, Clarence Graves to pursue his music including learning to play the guitar. At the age of 14, Reggie and his brothers formed their own band and performed at various Talent Shows. (Larry-Bass, Tony-Drums and Reggie-Guitar), which was just the beginning of his career. In 1980-1998, the Graves brothers and James "Coffee" formed the group, Covacus, and toured the East Coast. The group played for Fraternities, Clubs, and various Convention Center Events. The group recorded their first single in 1986, and also won the Budweiser Fest Contest in the same year. Covacus opened for major groups such as: Bar-Kays, Bohannon, and Kool & the Gang. Starting in 1989, Reggie's musical preference changed from R&B to Gospel. He joined with the group, Partners in Christ; and they performed at various local churches throughout the Piedmont Triad area. The group opened for the Mississippi Mass Choir, and successfully recorded a two song demo tape. In 1997-2004, his career continued moving in a positive direction by professionally recording with various artists. To name a few: Rodney Posey, Betty Griffin Keller, T.D. Jakes, Donald Lawrence, Daryl Coley, Shirley Caesar, Twinkle Clark Rodney Bryant, Mt. Zion Baptist Church Choir and the Fresh Start Ministry Project. Reggie worked extensively with Grammy Award winning producer, Cedric Thompson, on several gospel recording projects. During this time period, Reggie took his gospel interest on the road, touring GA, CA, VA, KY, TN, MD and NY. Among his accomplishments was University Park Baptist Church project "One Thing That I Desire". In addition, he toured with: Richard Smallwood, Karen Clark Sheared, Ted and Sherri, Maurette Brown Clark and Vanessa Williams on the "Alliance Tour". Recording projects include Tyrone Wilkinson and Ensemble of Spartanburg, SC and Patrick Lundy of the Baltimore/D.C. area. In July of 2005, he performed at T.D. Jakes "Mega Fest". In 2006-2007, Reggie partnered in a tour, the Alliance Tour and he also participated in the Finale Tour, Donald Lawrence. As well as, performing in two of Donald Lawrence's gospel plays, Bible Stories and Sing Hallelujah. Tony Award recipients of the play Sing Hallelujah. Reggie performed in the Donald Lawrence and Tri-City finale CD/DVD live recording project. On December 11, 2010, he performed as backup guitarist for Jeff Kashiwa of contemporary Jazz group The Rippingtons. Since 2011, Reggie's success continues as he performs live with such artists as: R&B recording artist Miles Jay, Jazz artist Joey Somerville, Jazz artist Marcus Johnson, Jazz Saxaphonist Mike Phillips, Jazz Trombonist Jeff Bradshaw and R&B artist Stephanie Mills. Currently ,as a guitar instructor/band coach for adults and children, he teaches all genres of music such as gospel, jazz, rock, r&b and much more to help develop their musical talents. His passion consists of producing, composing, writing and arranging songs for various artists.
