简介
Phat Sidy Smokehouse has been called Seattle's "realist" band. There is a lot of music that comes out of Sea-Town and the region, but none is as honest, solid, and tight as Phat Sidy. For a decade now, Phat Sidy Smokehouse has been bringing their funk to the world. This original sound is a tasty mixture of George Clinton, Jimi Hendrix, with a sprig of Peter Tosh. Phat Sidy is a "real" band. They write, record, and travel as a band. More than a band, they have become a family, the "Phat Phamily". The Phat Phamily is comprised of musicians and bands from around the region that bear affiliation with Phat Sidy Smokehouse. Phat Sidy Smokehouse features Ernest Pumphrey, Jr. on vocals. He is also a founder. Occasionally, Ernest will cover the drum kit... or the bass... or the keyboards. Ernest is a prolific performer. He can also be seen with Michael Shrieve's "Tangletown", the "206 Ribshack BBQ Orchestra", and "The Johnny Five" as well as various club nights around Seattle. Recently, Ernest performed in the Intiman Theater's "Black Nativity". Tyrone "Bob" Lovelace is the Bassist for Phat Sidy as well as a founder. Originally from Philadelphia, Bob brings an intense and solid funk foundation to the band. His attitude and charisma are undeniable on the stage. Davee C is one of the baddest drummers on the coast and is the backbone of the Phat Sidy feel. Davee C, one of the most sought after drummers, plays everywhere. He has been seen with Skerik's "Goul Booty"/"Yule Booty"/"Gras Booty", Clinton Fearon's "Boogie Brown Band", the "Dub Championz", "IMIJ", the "206 Ribshack BBQ Orchestra", and many more. Big Talk Jon Ryser plays saxophone and leads the horn section. He makes sure the horns are tight. Big Talk plays and records constantly. He can be heard on Felicia Loud and the Soul's CD, SharkSkin's "Ace's High" on Ubiquity Records, the Ganja Farmer's CD, arranged and recorded horns for Matt Messina, Keeth Apagar's "Harmonica Pocket", and has been seen with "Marmalade", the "Digable Allstars", the "Hungry Young Poets", "Spice" at club Mo, the "Filthy Sounds Players", and was the founder of "Horns & Vinyl" and "Futomaru". Jon has also handled most of the business for the band over the years. Brian "StingShark" Ray rocks the guitar. One of the original founders of the group, Brian also fronts his own band, "StingShark". He can be seen weekly with "Stankavicious" or "Marmalade". StingShark has also been with "Ganja Farmers", "Hillborne", "Horns & Vinyl", and "ADX". Brian owns and operates dig Studios. Mark Cardenas is undeniable on the keyboards. Noted as keyboardist with Morris Day and the Time, he played on huge hits like "Jungle Love" and "Oak Tree" as well as making an appearance in the movie "Purple Rain". He also can be heard on Janet Jackson's record "Control". Bill "Blank" Jones on the trumpet completes the horn section. Bill (formerly of the "MudSharks") tours and records with Clinton Fearon & Boogie Brown Band. Blank also performs with Plan B and Stankavicious. Jason Cameron is also a Phat guitarist. His style compliments Ray's in a way that thickens the Phat Sidy "Wall of Sound" to near impenetrable. Jason plays with the "Dub Championz" and fronts his own group, "Mother's Milk". His past includes playing with Carmen Electra on Prince's "Diamonds & Pearls" tour. Dirk "Action" Jackson plays percussion and support vocals. Dirk is formerly the lead singer for "Action Buddy". Quite a dynamic character, Dirk now also performs with the Hip-Hop group "Sucka Punch". Phat Sidy Smokehouse has been on the DL for a while now, but that hasn't stopped them from being voted Seattle's favorite Groove/Jam band in 2003 and nominated again in 2004. They missed the title that year by less than 3 votes. Phat Sidy Smokehouse will never die. They just get stronger. Keep your eyes and ears peeled, Phat Sidy is just around the corner, over the next bend... you're almost there... ----------------- SubraBae (pronounced like "SuperBabe") is on the scene! The highest high that Phat Sidy Smokehouse has yet hit, their newest (2nd) album is eleven d**e tracks of that danky funk. It would take a superhero to stop these guys! And even then, who could beat SubraBae?!? This record is destined to be a classic! Imaginative song-writing, solid production, tight performances, and a bad-a** SubraBae make this one groove on and on until the break of dawn! dig!
