简介
Art Fell, piano and David Cross, trumpet and vocals, met in Abidjan, Ivory Coast in 1985 and co-led a band with musicians from Ghana, France, England and the USA at the Hotel Ivoire. David took up cornet as a youngster during WWII, gravitating to jazz in London during the 1940s. He played with many groups followed by several years in the big bands of the 1960s. Art\'s first teacher taught him the classics along with stirde and improvisation. He led a band at Indiana University in the 1950s, did some composing, receiving an ASCAP award and played with a variety of groups before joining up with David. They intend for their light-hearted, swinging, melodic approach to jazz to come through in their playing. Two tunes were composed by Art, albeit with some interference from David. Two highly professional British colleagues join in. Veteran Bill Stagg on tenor guitar (four-string Condon style guitar) and he does some vocals. Bill leads London\'s Southern Rag-a-Jazz and headed the pioneering band that brought Bill Brunskill to the Lord Napier Pub. Mike Godwin plays bass and has worked with many of Europe\'s leading bands.
