This music was recorded in September 2014, right before I left San Francisco for New York. I'd lived in the Bay Area for 8 years, and the musicians on this record played with me in various incarnations, at home and abroad. I consider them family at this point, and all of the music on this record is dedicated to them, and to the city that we shared.

For this album, I arranged several songs for a large ensemble of percussion, woodwinds, bass and vocals. I'd actually played a few live shows with this band as well, but for the most part, I'd consider these arrangements "expanded" from how I'd originally conceived the songs. Being a Bay resident meant learning a lot about the classic minimalism of Terry Riley, experimental sounds coming from Mills College and SFSound, techno shows at 1015 Folsom, Public Works and the Mezzanine, and the sheer beauty of my surroundings. Hopefully, some of that stuff is captured in this record.
