Composer Morten Lauridsen, recipient of the 2007 National Medal of Arts (the highest award given to artists by the United States government) and NEA-designated "American Choral Master," has secured his place in music history as one of America’s greatest vocal composers. A life-long student of the human voice, Lauridsen's music presents a vast array of colors and dimensions. This album explores those many dimensions as well as his personal evolution in the vocal genre. His distinct voice has inspired a generation of choirs and composers. That inspiration has evoked new horizons of choral composition and choral singing. In this way, Lauridsen stands out among many.
