简介
Composer Morten Lauridsen, recipient of the 2007 National Medal of Arts (the highest award given to artists by the United States government) and NEA-designated "American Choral Master," has secured his place in music history as one of America’s greatest vocal composers. A life-long student of the human voice, Lauridsen's music presents a vast array of colors and dimensions. This album explores those many dimensions as well as his personal evolution in the vocal genre. His distinct voice has inspired a generation of choirs and composers. That inspiration has evoked new horizons of choral composition and choral singing. In this way, Lauridsen stands out among many. Not only has he advanced American vocal music throughout the world, history will credit Morten Lauridsen with expanding harmony - for and with the human voice. Voce uses its voice to serve our community. At its core, Voce believes music finds its highest good in giving. Since its founding in 2006, Voce has served music and cherished the service music does for others. As music serves the community, so too does it serve artists, patrons of the arts and all those who love this art form. Voce creates harmony with charity and all who share a common commitment to the human voice and the human spirit. In keeping with this mission, fifty percent of the profits from the sale of this album will be shared with Habitat for Humanity. Morten Lauridsen captures this spirit – with tenderness and with fire. His music has been performed and recorded by many outstanding ensembles. Voce and the Voce Chamber Artists are honored to share in this extraordinary experience. On behalf of Morten Lauridsen, Voce, the Voce Chamber Artists and Habitat for Humanity, thank you and enjoy. -Mark Singleton Artistic Director, Voce, Inc.
