As the winter of 2008 neared Christmas, Tavis and Patrick found themselves stranded in a suburban basement in Vermont once again. While Tavis' parents tried to sleep, T & The Wonder scraped the battery acid off of a toy-sized amplifier and began experimenting with different melodies. By 5:00 a.m., the 50-second demo of "Tote Bag" was conceived in a snow storm with a Shure SM57 microphone and an imitation Stratocaster. The crossover from Hip Hop was official, thusly, there was no turning back. Winter was over and T & The Wonder returned to their apartment in Chicago. At this point, a small collection of experimental pop/rock songs had been drafted and demoed. After recruiting the help of a live band, they started playing shows around the city. In the fall of 2009, T & The Wonder teamed up with Joe Connors (Paragon Studios) to record their first studio LP. The album features an extensive collection of instruments, ideas, and styles. With the help of Matt Kaufman on the drums, T & The Wonder found the fuller dynamic they desired. Ukulele, Mandolin, Glockenspiel, Piano, Organ, Resonator Guitar and a string quartet all make appearances amidst the usual Guitar-Bass-Drums combo. On top of all that, the vocal arrangements complete the sound and add a classic vibe. This collection of songs reflect how the band sees the world of pop music.
