简介
Glasgow's genre-assimilating digital experimentalists Machines in Heaven are set to release their follow-up EP The Hindu Milk on 14 November. Partly recorded at London's prestigious Red Bull Studios, The Hindu Milk further outlines the group's stunning potential. With the EP we see five tracks which have travelled far-and-wide across a miscellany of memorable digital landscapes. Opening track 'Edge of the Middle' encapsulates the familiar essence found laden in the fantastic bordersbreakdown, and along with ethereal closer 'Holy Particles' bookends an even more experimental outlay of intent from the Glaswegian group. We see 'Feel Slow' and 'Voodoo Mechanics' toy with complex, driven beats which pay subtle homage to both the contemporary - such as Daniel Avery, Young Fathers and TV on the Radio - and old, in the name of motorik masters Kraftwerk, while the upcoming EP's lead single, 'Hindu Milk', is a meek and leisured (yet wholly playful) absorption of a shelfful of influences. Moving to a rhythm of samples overlapping like slow coastal waves, the lead single is also graced with the near-perfect perch of melancholic vocoded vocals above buoyant background tones, like a teenage robot love-spurned, though lamenting his inability to fully feel it. Lush, complex, nasty, ambient, noisy – Machines in Heaven's second EP has been brought back from the future, mixed with the past, wrapped up in dual layers of synthesizer and left on the doorstep as the perfect present. It will be released through digital and physical platforms on 14 Nov. The video to 'Hindu Milk' will be released on 7 Nov. 'Feel Slow' is set to be be previewed by Red Bull in the run up to its release, where Machines in Heaven previewed it at 'The Night Fair' at Glasgow's SWG3 venue along with label mates Atom Tree. Well-known for their unpredictable remixes, this time Machines in Heaven have allowed Modifier to remix one of their tracks, which will be released on 30 October, with more suprise remixers tba.
