简介

For the last four years, Popgun has been one of the top drawing bands in the Sacramento pop scene, earning critical kudos and selling lots of CDs locally. The last two of their CDs have won Sacramento Area Music Awards for CD of the Year. Now, the band has released it's third effort to date, "N.U. Machine" at www.notlame.com! The Popgun sound has been honed with razor sharp pop hooks, Moog synthesizer parts, plenty of vocal harmonies, all on top of the same viciously pretty tunes. The band, brothers Mark and Kevin Harrod, Andy Conway, Larry Carr and Steve Amaral even got some infamous friends to help out along the way. Gold-record producer David Houston (Toni, Tone, Tony) recorded it, and Greg Brown (Cake, Deathray), who wrote the smash hit "The Distance", contributed a number of key guitar parts. The band is already expanding their fan base beyond the Sacramento area, and this record will only help increase that effort. Popgun is headed for bigger and better things, so climb on board this rocket and enjoy the ride... Live Review: "...(kinda reminiscent of the Cars), the harmonies were seamless, they have a great onstage presence, and gosh, they are just fun. Full of hooks and good vibes." "Hire a babysitter and get thee to the club." -©2003 Marci Surpin www.altrock.com The new CD by Popgun, "N.U. Machine," is the musical equivalent of Krazy Glue. In other words, it just might get stuck in your CD player once you pop it in and press "play." We're talking instantly addictive melodies, hummable harmonies and a groovy guitar buzz that's like the Kinks in a bearhug with the Cars. Little space is wasted on "N.U. Machine," with most songs snug in 2 1/2-minute packages. -Chris Macias, Sacramento Bee Newspaper "Popgun has released another pop gem of an album, the band's second release. This disc plays to Popgun's strengths: pop songwriting loaded with hooks. The songs on n.u. machine will stick in the corner of your ear; days later, you'll catch yourself humming the tunes as they find a path to your mouth. If there's any justice in the musical world (ha!), soon people besides Sacramentans will be caught up in the Popgun machine." -Cary Rodda, Alive and Kicking Magazine
