简介
"Uncle" Al Morris was a founding member and songwriter of the New York City Hardcore Punk band "Murphy's Law" back in 1982 until 1987. Along with his musical and lyrical contributions, Al also was the band artist who created the famous Murf Man, the artwork for their first album "Murphy's Law", did all their flyers and t-shirts, some of them classics that are still sold at concerts today. Al started out playing NYC venues Max's Kansas City and CBGBs back in the 70s, an original punk from Queens who rode the subway with the Ramones and opened up for well known artists like The Cramps, Twisted Sister and The Misfits with various bands he played guitar in (Johnny Castro and the Convertibles, the Attack). In 1983 he teamed up with Jimmy Dresher, Adam Mucci (Agnostic Front) and Harley Flanagan ( The Cro-Mags) in his kitchen and threw together Murphy's Law to play a New Years Show that night. an instant hit with the crowd, they went on to open for the Beastie Boys Licensed To Ill tour in 1987. "Gangway Stupid" was Al striking out on his own a few years later, his creative juices from ML's first album came back to life here. Gangway is a mix of early HC sounds, along with "Cubicle', showing Al's versatility as vocalist for his own band Gangway Stupid was recorded in 1998 but never got released due to his band members going different directions, so Al figured he let it sit until the right time, but in that time the tapes got lost..until now If you liked Murphy's Law, you're gonna love Gangway Stupid, music from a NYC original
