Ellizar is a graduate of Wayne State University (Detroit, MI) where he earned degrees in music education and flute performance. He has taught high school, middle school, and elementary bands. Ellizar is an alumnus of Delta Omicron Professional Fraternity and a member of MSBOA, MENC and the Society of Ethnomusicology. During the last ten years, Ellizar has performed with the WSU Symphony, WSU Symphony Band, Detroit Symphony Civic Orchestra, Detroit Symphony Civic Wind Ensemble, SEMFA flute choir, WMFA flute choir, tenure principal piccolo for the Grand Rapids Symphonic Band, principal flute for Vivo Sinfonietta Orchestra (Ann Arbor, MI), and many other chamber ensembles around Michigan. Between 2004 and 2008 he served as the librarian, personnel manager, and principal piccolo of the Detroit Symphony Civic Ensembles. Internationally, Ellizar has taught in Ethiopia, England and the Philippines, providing aid to schools and donations of recorders,supplemental music materials, and three months of service to public schools and colleges in each country. Ellizar is currently studying at Western Michigan University for his masters in Wind Band Conducting.
