Music to nourish the soul describes this music well. This music will transport you to the places that inspired the music -- the redwood forest, mountain streams, the Pacific Ocean, the temperate rain forest of the Pacific Northwest, as well as a Buddhist pilgrimage spot in China named Putuo Mountain (PutuoShan). Clarelynn Rose is a former forester who began playing professionally in 1999, the same year she began embracing Buddhism. Buddhist teachings also inspire some of her music, including King Yama's Mirror. A self-taught musician, Clarelynn benefitted greatly from associations with fingerstyle guitar greats Alex de Grassi and John Renbourn. She explains that de Grassi helped immensely with the composition and orchestration of her pieces (yes, you really can have orchestration on a single acoustic guitar!), and the Renbourn was a source of encouragement and inspiration until his passing in March 2015. This album is in part an offering to the spirit of John Renbourn and they key role he played in Clarelynn's bringing her music from the quiet solitude of the redwood forest to you.
