Dancer is the first recorded release for Octave Inc. Among the catchy riffs and big, sweeping jams Octave Inc delivers their unique blend of jazz, folk and pop. The quartet of Michael Slater (Saxophone), Andrew Jeon (Guitar), Tom Raw (Bass) and John Sutherland (Drums) bring to life Slater's steady, minimalistic compositions. The goal of Dancer was to drive home noticeable grooves and melodies. Dancer explores the use of free jazz, without the restraints of traditional progressions so each musician has the freedom of improvisation and movement within the piece. Dancer is a collection of vibe-oriented songs that each musician had a hand in writing. Recorded over the past year, Dancer includes guest musicians Kasey Mckenzie (Vocals), Gary Bigelow (Guitar) and Joanna Wroblewska (Violin). Burmese Love Triangle and Broken Branch were recorded at Signal Studios. Cathy Lane Studios provided the cover art.
