Over the Stone was essentially recorded live at Makoche studios. We sat in a circle and played the songs as if we were playing live. The vocals and a few touches here and there were the only overdubbing. Of course this means that no one can make any mistakes during the recording. It also means that there's an honest "room" sound to the final product. All of these tunes are traditional except for The Dreamin' by Tom Russell and One Last Cold Kiss by Gail Collins and Felix Pappalardi. These traditional tunes are our own arrangements that Justin, our fiddle player, has dug out of the archives.
