简介
Friends, this is Kayla’s first album. She has a deep love of music and story-telling, and her unique style and voice need to be shared. The album is a self-produced offering, not a professionally polished work. She wrote the lyrics, melodies, and harmonies to all of her songs. Much of the music was inspired by true relationships, on which the lyrics were loosely based. Some songs, however, were based on entirely imagined scenarios. This original album has several kinds of songs. You will find stories of love lost (or found), hope, encouragement, fun, and humor. There are some heartfelt songs and inspiring lyrics designed to move listeners. Check out the last track “Don’t Give Up.” Each song depicts a theme or feeling from everyday life that anyone can identify with. There is one dark, heart-wrenching social commentary on a desperate mother’s plea for divine intervention. It is called “Help Us Now.” The artist speaks Spanish as a second language. One piece, “La Que Tienes,” meaning “What You Have,” is all in Spanish, and it’s about achieving success by emulating the lives of people who inspire you. Several other songs, like “Help Us Now,” and “Believe It,” have a smattering of Spanish in them. The album showcases the versatility and vocal range of this gifted artist. The majority of the work was made with producer and friend Lucius James, who did the instrumentals. One song, “I Want to Remember,” comprised of vocals and piano, was composed and performed entirely by her. It was recorded in the studio of Peter Stevens. Whether Kayla is drawing from life experiences or using her imagination, she puts real emotions and energy into her music. You’ll surely find something to hum along with, dance to, chuckle at, think about, and appreciate in this diamond-in-the rough.
