"I'm always your big brother You’re always my sunshine There ain’t no two ways about it Little sister of mine” Hi, my name is Abe Parker. I’ve been writing songs ever since I was 5. I wrote this chorus for my sister when she graduated from high school. Her name is Anna. She is super sweet. You would love her. Everyone does. She has red hair and can be as stubborn as the horses she rides. I was hoping that when she first heard this song it would make her smile. It did. But it made her cry too. In the past year I have done a lot of touring. The best part was getting to open for musical acts such as Andy Grammer and Switchfoot . About seven months ago I packed my life into my Honda Accord and moved from Blue Rock, Ohio (Population 641) to the Atlanta Metropolitan Area of Georgia. (Population 5,457,831) After two months of performing in any place willing to let me in the door, couch surfing, HOV violations and parking tickets, I landed a gig at Kings Ridge Christian High School. I sang to them: “I am always your big brother You’re always my sunshine There ain’t no two ways about it Little sister of mine” The kids exploded. I started getting calls from teachers who told me the kids wouldn’t stop singing Little Sister. My email was clogged with new twitter follower updates and even the football coach starting coming to my night shows in town. I began to realize that my sister and I weren’t the only ones who could benefit from this song. Andy Grammer so perfectly stated in his song Ladies, “Most of this world sees women like candy.” Because so much music seems to degrade women, I think a song about a brother-sister relationship is becoming increasingly important. Plus, I would do anything short of a felony to drive my sister around town, turn on the radio and hear: “I am always your big brother You’re always my sunshine There ain’t no two ways about it Little sister of mine”
