Large Chamber Works: Anthony Newman, composer and pianist My Chamber Concerto was commissioned by Peter Bacchus for the Barcelona Contemporary Festival in 2006, and may be played with either 5 or 6 soloists - including percussion. The four movement work is neo-classical in design, and features a reduction of the Largo from my Third Symphony dedicated to the victims of the 9/11 tragedy. The players are: Rene Jolles, violin Peter Bacchus, flute Sophie Shao, cello Moran Katz, clarinet Anthony Newman, piano The String Quartet No. 2 has virtuoso outer movements ending with a fugue. My favorite movement is the set of variations on a tonal theme, which uses variation treatments in the style of Beethoven. The piece is performed by: The Orso Quartet The Quintet for Piano and Strings has had 10 performances and the most popular movement has been a set of variations on an Easter tune.
