Jimmy Roland began his musical journey professionally in 1985 when he became a house vocalist for Horrigan Productions, a company in Los Angeles that produced demos for aspiring songwriters from around the world. Roland’s voice is heard on countless of these recordings, many produced by other companies as well, as his vocalizing skills became more sought after. In early 2013, officials from the government of Jamaica took a liking to one of Jimmy Roland’s tunes titled ‘My Jamaica’. It is a song that Roland wrote after exiting a not-so-pleasant relationship. In an attempt to protect the guilty, Roland changed the name of the character in the song to Jamaica. I is now the most popular song` to date of his career. In this instance, Roland and his attorneys issued several licenses for the song to be used to rally Jamaica’s Diaspora in Montego Bay, June of 2013. Good things can come from a bad situation. Just prior to the Jamaica incident, another of Roland’s dreams came true. He finally met his mentor and idol, since the beginning of his career, the legendary Ms. Dionne Warwick. The two met on January 13, 2012, just blocks away from Roland’s home. Jimmy Roland say’s “it was as if time suddenly stood still as I walked towards her”. As the two parted ways, Warwick put her left hand on Roland’s left shoulder and said, I’ll see ya’ later”. Roland took this as Ms. Warwick’s way of blessing him as only good things, has happened since that touch. As of July 2, 2013, Jimmy Roland has been promoting his new Dance track release ‘Backseat Driver (Circle Of Love)’ created in collaboration with Italian producer dr. Kmer. The two had a Dance hit in 2009 titled “Got To Be Real”. Roland writes the lyrics, melodies and provides the vocals. The song became #1 on several Internet Dance radio stations/charts and received heavy rotation on the MTV/LOGO television channel. Roland wanted to speak out in the song against homophobia, prejudice, hatred, being real and rejection Since joining forces with dr. Kmer in 2008, Jimmy Roland has seen a great increase in fans and DJ support form the UK, Germany, Ireland, Croatia, Italy, Morocco, Spain and elsewhere. At last glance, his foreign DJ friend count was well over sixty-seven hundred on various DJ sites. One of Jimmy's goals is to tour these nations focusing on Kmer/Roland music so that both he and his foreign friends will have the opportunity to party together. Along the same lines as the aforementioned song movement and during the victorious week of 2013’s Prop 8 over-ruling for the GLBT community, an older song written by Roland, ‘Partners For Life’, breathed new life. The Huffington Post listed this track as one of the Top 34 Pride Anthems of 2013. The June 25th, 2013 edition’s mention, with a thumbnail of Roland in between Diana Ross and Lady Gaga; caused the YouTube live performance of the song (taped at Long Beach Pride Fest ’08), to see a bit more action in terms of views. Partners, was also used as the theme song in the 2006 Los Angeles Gay romantic stage-play comedy titled “My Husband Is My Sister-in-Law”. Jimmy Roland’s acting skills were most recently seen on Byron Allen’s reality/law series (starring Cristina Perez) ‘Justice For All’. Roland improved the snotty/jerk New Orleans landlord, Lloyd Fontaine, on the episode ‘Mardi Gras Mishap’ Jimmy Roland puts his heart into everything he does and it shows.
