简介

The soul, jazz, and blues sounds of the late 60's and 70's that we all came to know and love from Aretha Franklin to Roberta Flack...from Ray Charles to Wilson Pickett. Well, if it wasn't Jerry Jemmott's bass you were grooving to, then it was someone influenced by him. He's the bass player's bass player. His influence in music has crossed genres and spanned almost a half century! So, to have the opportunity to work Mr. Jerry Jemmott, feeling honored is an understatement! According to Nancy Tentman-Brown, "humbled" would be much more appropriate. " I wrote and produced Do You Ever about a year before I met Mr. Jemmott. I was satisfied with the song to a point, but in the original version, that all-important bass line was played by me (a pianist), on the programmed bass keyboard. That did not sit well with me because there ain't nothing like the real thing! So I decided that seeking out a bass player would be the next step in producing my work. I glanced at the classifieds and joined a few musician web groups. I also added a bass guitar to my vision board. Then, within 3 months, faith met fate! Our paths connected on a warm summer night in Beverly Hills at a beautiful jazz supper club appropriately named "HOME". Between his personal appearances and tour dates with Ms. Aretha Franklin, he has generously found time to offer his skills, knowledge and expertise to my projects", she explains. "The song was already done", she adds, "I just asked him to take a listen and sprinkle any Jerry Jemmott soulisms he felt inspired to create with his bass line. And he did just that! He brought a whole new layer and texture to the song. I'm thoroughly pleased with the final product!"
