简介

Sharon McMahan truly is Somebody Else. Her style as a writer and her delivery as a vocalist stands out in her performances on this CD. If you want warmth and soul in a vocal, this is the CD for you. If you want to hear music that moves you with chord changes, melodies and matching base lines to a medium tempo, this is the CD for you. If you want to hear words that relate to your own emotions and experiences, then this is the CD for you………………………………..But first a little more about this ebullient born, multi-talented, writer/artist Sharon McMahan. Sharon McMahan got her start in the music industry as a songwriter. Though born in the south (Sevierville, Tennessee) Sharon was raised and musically disciplined in Detroit, Michigan and became a professional songwriter at the age of thirteen. Her style of writing was influenced by her association with the best musicians, writers, artists and producers that worked and thrived in the city of Detroit. During her teen years, due to the efforts of her first publisher, Ollie McLaughlin and a local producer, Don Davis, her songs were recorded by Barbara Lewis, Mavis Staples, Johnnie Mae Matthews, Etta James, Gracie Darnell, The Three Degrees, Deon Jackson and The Searchers (London, England). Detroit also heard Sharon as a recording artist, a background vocalist, a writer and performer of radio promos for WJLB. Sharon also performed on a regular basis in Detroit at local clubs and on television. She relocated to Los Angeles where she auditioned for Columbia Records. Her music was sent from the West Coast office to Clive Davis, then president, in New York. After listening, he sent for Sharon and personally auditioned her. He signed her to the label as a writer/artist. Her released single “Get Out Of My Life” was produced by Toxey French. The string and horn arrangements were done by Philly Sound genius, Bobby Martin. Sharon later became associated with NBC-TV as a lyricist for the mini-series ‘The Sophisticated Gents” working with jazz great Benny Golson as composer on the film. Golson later recorded Sharon’s composition “Love Is The Key” on his album for Columbia (I’m Always Dancing To The Music). She also worked with The late Otis Blackwell, writer of several Elvis Presley ( All Shook Up, Love Me Tender, etc.) hits. Otis encouraged her to try writing a few country songs. She did. He later recorded one of her songs on a project in Nashville, Tennessee.. On Nov 1, 2010, Sharon’s producer Preston Glass, had a CD released on Expansion Records in the UK called “Colors Of Life”. Sharon is featured on the first track called ‘Olive Branch, where she sings a duet with Laundon Kendricks. Google contains more info. Sharon and her producer, Preston Glass also share writers credits for The Stylistics title track of their new CD, “That Same Way”. Sharon stays busy and is looking forward to a new release in 2011. Sharon has a sound all her own and her voice is not one that is easily forgotten. This project is one that has been a joy for her to do. She is hoping that you will find joy in listening!
