My name is James Hawkins. I am a singer/songwriter located in Florida. I have been writing songs ever since I can remember. It has just been lately that my songwriting has taken off. I have had 8 songs recorded by 7 Florida artists and have co-written songs with my friend Mindy Simmons on her new CD "If it Where up to me".

I draw my inspiration from Utah Phillips, Woody Guthrie, John Gorka, Shawn Colvin and Harry Chapin. I love a good story and I love to tell a good story. The songs on "Betty" are a distilled look at life as is flows by my front door. So give it a listen and you may find yourself or someone you know captured here.
