Joseph Bruno is the creative force behind “Marginal Way”. He grew up during the intensely rebellious 60’s era, which hugely influenced his music style. With the assassination of JFK & MLK, Vietnam, and Woodstock, music of this era had colorful freedom, purpose, and depth.

Joe first took an interest to music in elementary school, where he played violin. Later he became masterful with percussion, playing in a West Hartford rock band from the late 60’s to early 70’s. Primarily entertaining raucous school dances, Joe thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to bang out intricate beat patterns for his peers. At the pivotal age of 19, Joe picked up a guitar for the first time. Self-taught with a sprinkle of lessons, Bruno was rapidly plucking strings at a level far beyond his age and exposure to the instrument. In 1972, in a small church in Feeding Hills, Mass. Joe accepted Jesus as his savior. Pastor Hoff was very influential in reaching out to troubled youth, many with addictions. This was a great time of revival, where young “hippies” were turning to God, discarding the emptiness that accompanies promiscuous sex and a drug-induced lifestyle. The search was for something much deeper, something to give true meaning to life. Joe has always enjoyed the outdoors, hiking, canoeing, etc. In his late 20’s, he decided to train with an Apache Shaman to learn more survival skills. Unfortunately, spiritual ceremonies were not God driven, and he soon knew he had to remove his soul from the precarious situation on the Native American reservation. Joe has had many experiences along life’s journey that have influenced the style of music he has innovated. His music is organic, and never watered down.
