简介
“Arrivals” is the second album released by Vibraphonist Christian Tamburr in less then 2 years. This album features the amazing talents of Elisa Pruett on upright bass, Justin Varnes on Drums, Louis Heriveaux on Piano, and Christian Tamburr on Vibraphone and Piano. Most importantly “Arrivals” features one of Christian’s biggest influences in jazz, Ira Sullivan. Christian met Ira when he was only 13 and has been performing with Ira since. “ Ira wanted to record with me right away, however my mother told me I had to get out of Jr. High School first”. Finally after touring and performing with Ira around the country including Joe Segals Jazz Showcase in Chicago, Christian was able to record with Ira on his own project. “This album is a really special project for me and the band. My first album “MOVE” turned out to be a great album to launch this band into the scene with primarily my original tunes. I wanted to feature some of my original compositions, as well as some of my favorite standards. In addition to standards the band has been playing many tunes by Pat Metheny. My 4th grade teacher was his babysitter, and I saw him when I was only 9 years old. I never knew I would have the chance to record the music I saw him perform and it’s a true honor to have Minuano (six-eight) on the new album. Kind of the odd ball on the album is Angel by Sarah McLachlin. I heard this tune when I saw the move “city of angels”. I have been in love with that melody and the feel of that tune. I have always played it on piano, and when it came time to record the song, I wanted to play piano on it. This is the only tune I get the chance to play piano on this album. The most important thing to me is feel, and melody, and this new album has great musicians doing just that… Swinging hard, and playing for the love of Jazz! I hope you enjoy it as much as we enjoyed recording it! BIO Christian Tamburr is a multi-instrumentalist, accomplished on the piano and trapset as well as world and orchestral percussion. Christian is currently the leader of the critically acclaimed Christian Tamburr Quartet, a four-piece acoustic jazz group, as well as working with many other groups around the country such as Ira Sullivan and the Grammy Award Winning Dazz Band.
