Bulgarian-born violinist, Hristo Popov, brings tremendous experience to the concert stage. Mr. Popov made his orchestral debut at the age of nine. He has performed throughout the United States, England, Germany, Czech Republic, Poland, Bulgaria, Italy, Switzerland, and Mexico as both recitalist and concerto soloist. He is a founding member of Trio Casalmaggiore and has been playing with them since 1998. Mr. Popov began his musical education in Bulgaria at the school for gifted children “Dobrin Petkov” in the city of Plovdiv. However, he has completed most of his education in the United States of America. He is a graduate of Idyllwild Arts Academy, Oberlin College, and Kent State University. Most recently, Mr. Popov completed his doctoral studies at the University of Kentucky. Notable mentors include Wolfgang Marschner, Todor Pelev, Michael Tseitlin, Taras Gabora, Oleh Krysa, and Daniel Mason. Mr. Popov is a prizewinner at the Kozian International Violin Competition, Silver Medalist at the California Young Artist Competition, winner of the Grand Prize at the International Institute of Music (Germany, USA), first place at the American String Teachers' Association Chamber Music Competition. Mr. Popov has appeared as guest artist in numerous festivals such as Park City International Music Festival, Plovdiv Chamber Music Festival, and the Sofia Summer Chamber Music Festival. He is Founder and Artistic Director of Summer Workshop for Strings. Mr. Popov has performed in major Performing Arts Centers in the United States including the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion - Los Angeles, Severance Hall - Cleveland, John F. Kennedy Center - Washington D.C and Casa Verdi – Milan, Italy. Mr. Popov performs over twenty violin concerti and he maintains a wide variety of recital programs. Mr. Popov is proficient in performing music from the standard repertoire as well as significant works of the contemporary genre. American composer Thomas Janson has recently composed a number of works specifically for Mr. Popov. He has also premiered works by the American composer and author, Rick Sowash. Mr. Popov has performed a number of television appearances from the United States to Mexico and Bulgaria and continues to receive rave reviews. As described by Kultur am Ort, Germany, Mr. Popov “proved to be a true virtuoso…he fascinated the audience with his warm Bohemian magically sweet tone and unsurpassed brilliance!” Pianist Per Enflo was born in Stockholm, Sweden. In addition to piano, he has studied conducting and composition. His teachers include Gottfrid Boon (a student of Arthur Schnabel), Stockholm (Sweden), Bruno Seidlhofer, Vienna (Austria), and Geza Anda, Luzern (Switzerland). At the age of 11, he gave his first piano recital in professional recital series and at the age of 12 he was the soloist in eight performances of the Mozart's nineteenth piano concerto with the Royal Opera Orchestra of Sweden. In 1956 and 1961, he was the winner of several national Swedish competitions for Young pianists. As a result, he made his official debut in the Stockholm Concert Hall in 1963. Since then, he has performed frequently in recitals and as a concerto soloist in United States and Europe. In the recent years, Enflo can be heard in a variety recitals and chamber music settings with Kent State University music faculty. Other performances include being a soloist in 13 different Mozart Piano Concerti with the Triune Festival Orchestra in Columbus, Ohio. Many of these performances, as well as recent solo piano recitals have been broadcasted on the WOSU Classics Network in Ohio. Per Enflo is Professor at Kent State University in Ohio.
