简介
Three powerful forces in Irish roots music in their own right, Noelie McDonnell, Nicola Joyce and Noriana Kennedy combine as The Whileaways to create a beguiling tapestry of harmonies, tradition and beautifully crafted original songs. For anyone who has not yet been spellbound by this unique trio, be prepared! Having taken their music from the Galway session scene onto the world stage over the last three years, the band release the Christmas single ahead of their third album in the new year. Originally recorded for that album, the poignant song was plucked from the collection for Christmas release because of it's tender sentiment, that is ever more pertinent at this time of year: Accompanied by a beautifully shot video, it's hard to put your finger on exactly what makes this combination so moving. Maybe it's that Noelie McDonnell's songwriting simply expresses that deepest wish in all of us "I just hope everyone will be OK". These three singers could all front their own projects, and indeed have. With six previous albums to their collective credit, this is their debut as one. The band came to know each other’s singing over a number of years, playing in sessions in the folk melting pot of Galway city. Dipping their toe in the water as a trio, they were hailed as ‘a knockout of the festival’ at the legendary Port Fairy Folk Festival, Australia in 2012. The critically acclaimed Whileaways' most recent album 'Saltwater Kisses' received a four star review in the Irish Times and RTE Radio 1 Album of the week. Their enthralling performances drive on their quickly rising reputation. Prepare to be spellbound. "this bands musical penchant: perfected simplicity" - Colleen Taylor, The Irish Echo "Prepare to be spellbound" Sligo Live Festival "hollers for a chance to be heard in a live setting, so rich is its lyrical tapestry" Siobhan Long, Irish Times
