Úna Keane’s debut Album ‘Trees’ was released in November 2010 on Marabou Records, her own cottage industry label. She wrote, arranged, recorded and co-produced the record herself. Her distinctive mixed media Artwork has been gaining a lot of fans too. Lead single ‘Alice’ worked its way onto an impressive number of Irish playlists, supported by a 6-date Irish Tour in November 2010. A second, longer Irish tour is now planned for April/May 2011 with the release of second single 'Mr. Icarus' on May 6th. The Album resides for the most part in the alternative acoustic genre. The message is positive, perceptive and just a little bit quirky as Keane’s left-of-centre approach shines tiger-bright throughout. A singer & multi-instrumentalist with a knack for multi-tasking, she creates a sound onstage that draws on her background as a classically trained pianist but sees her layer voice, percussion, electric guitar and violin. With an Honours Degree in Computer Science and a Postgrad in Music Technology under her belt, Una set up ‘The Piano Room’ in 2006 – a Piano school for people of all ages and levels in Kilmainham, Dublin. In 2008 she went on to set up her own Recording studio, a year in which she was also the recipient of an IMRO scholarship to study Film Scoring at the prestigious Berklee College of Music in Boston, garnering a Distinction for her short but challenging 6-month stint. Una also runs an annual Creative Arts Summer Project for young people in Dublin 8.
