This piece was composed as a farewell to my sister and her partner emigrating to China. I wanted the piece to evoke wonder and curiosity, which are two things I want my sister to experience when she starts this new chapter of her life. The piece focuses on the building of a simple theme and features both western and eastern instruments, a nod to the journey my sister is taking; where she’s been and where she’s going. As the thought of her being away can be tough, I wanted to ensure that the composition remained uplifting and give the listener a feeling of hope throughout.
