Prolific Toronto synth-pop dude Digits will be opening for St. Vincent and Dan Deacon, respectively, at a few Canadian shows in the coming weeks. To mark the dates, the electronic songwriter known as Alt Altman will be rolling out a new EP called The Day You Fight Back. The four-song collection is due out on June 10. It’s coming out just in time for summer, which is appropriate since it apparently has an uncharacteristically bright and buoyant sound. According to a press release, “This summery EP is a slight departure from Digits’ usual melancholy soulful synth-pop.” This time around, influences include “bossa nova and soft pop,” while acoustic guitars factor into the arrangements.
