Super gal is the latest of the many captivating hits that Vasco DADA has put up to the curious but excited fans. The song has a mix blend of pop, techno and African xylophones from the people of the Buganda Kingdom, settled around the Source of the Great River Nile. Exactly 14 months before he was born Vasco DADA’s father, Livingstone Kateregga, was supposed to have been buried alive at the orders of former Ugandan dictator IDI AMIN DADA. I t was only that the executioner in charge of political prisoners identified Livingstone Kateregga, a former schoolmate, and allowed him escape. Otherwise, Vasco would have not been born. Based on this tragic back ground, Vasco inherited a stage name DADA, to add to the historical wealth of his carrier. Like father, like son. At the age of 24, Vasco DADA was thrown into prison as a political prisoner for organizing popular protests against the institution of a Life Presidency in Uganda. It is while in Prison, Vasco DADA learned the art of music from a prison wardress known as Naluja. He entered Prison a civil Engineer and political rights activist, and walked out a singer and song writer. Originally known as Engineer Kateregga, Vasco DADA’S fame took him to shows in much of African and European countries. The Artist’s transition from a regional artist to a truly challenging international icon has left many amazed at such a rich historical phenomena packed with determination.
