简介
Dishing out Texas-sized helpings of savory Rhythm and Blues, So'l Sweet is a welcome addition to any musical menu with an eclectic blend of R&B, Funk and Jazz ingredients - all seasoned by the band's roots in the Lone Star State. Anchored by four former Texans, the magnificent eight-member group prides itself on collaborating to create consistently catchy songs with an irresistible hook. Above all, the band's existence is a simple labor of love, resulting in a striking synergy of creativity, straight from the heart and soul. So'l Sweet gets cooking with bandleader, percussionist, harmonica player and lead vocalist, JJ Morales, who began fronting groups during his teens in his hometown of San Antonio, Texas. Always known for emphasizing a standout vocal presence, Morales has opened for such acts as B.B. King, Bobby Blue Bland, Redd Foxx, and Willie Nelson. Dusty Morales, JJ's wife, adds guitar and lead vocals to the mix. An Air Force brat whose family lived around the world, she sang in bands at the early age of 14 opening for country greats such as Tammy Wynett, Dolly Parton, Porter Wagner, and Flatt & Skruggs in what was then, West Germany. She later settled in San Antonio where she met JJ singing with local rock & funk groups. Jessica Morales Garcia, Dusty and JJ's daughter, brings a richness in tone to the vocal blend, following in her parent's footsteps. Jessica performs with sass, as well as a power and range that absolutely stuns audiences. Fern Mata, guitarist and songwriter, lends substance to the So'l Sweet band. One of the group's main songwriters, he's also a veteran guitarist who played with various Top 40 bands in the mid-'80s. Mata, composed seven of the hit songs on 'Love Absolute,' an album by recording artist, Lisa Lopez. Steve Halter, songwriter and keyboardist extraordinaire, began playing at the tender age of five. His background as a session musician on numerous albums for every major label in the recording business brings a seasoned professional to the fold. His influences range from Herbie Hancock and Stevie Wonder to Jimmy Smith. David "Mavis" Senescu, bassist and songwriter is the son of L.A. Studio Trumpeter, Bob Senescu . His music was influenced by watching, learning and playing with the best players in town. After hearing Jaco Pastorius solo album, Mavis started playing bass and guitar at 18. He also started his own original alternative rock band, called ONLY. Mavis joined So'l Sweet in early 2002. Dan Ritter, drums and percussionist, is one of the finest drummers in L.A. He keeps the beat as the backbone and soul of the band. George Pandis, trumpet, flugelhorn, songwriter and arranger hails from Southern California. He began leading his own groups based in Los Angeles back in the 70's performing Jazz, Fusion, Funk, R&B, Blues and Swing. He has studied with John Clyman, Claude Gordon and Bobby Rodriguez. George has toured with Branscombe Richmond & the Renegade Posse, Flattop Tom & His Jump Cats and Porterhouse Bob & Down to the Bone Band, the Sentimental Journey Band and Roy Gaines just to name a few. George leads the Brass section for the So'l Sweet band.
