The birth of "Songs for a New Civilization" began at the death of a loved one; music and poetry poured out of my heart. Inspired by Homer, the ancient singer-storyteller, this album attempts to tell the story of our era beginning with the question: What will our grandchildren say about our generation? What stories will they tell of us? The album takes us through modern tragedies, serenity and immense suffering, inspiration and love, from the life of child soldiers, to a serene garden, to the edge of death and beyond it. The last line of the final song is a lyrical run through several octaves echoing the life of a caterpillar emerging from the cocoon with color and wings.

The second song, "The Sun Shines Just The Same", which describes the tragedy of child soldiers, was recently selected by Woman of Substance Radio to be featured on their podcast.
