Magnificat And Mary said, “My soul magnifies the Lord, and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior.” -Luke 1:46-47 Maddy Roundey: violin Jonathan Clausing: mandolin Ellen Roundey: cello 2. I Said, I Will Guard My Ways And now, O Lord, for what do I wait? My hope is in you. -Psalm 39:7 Rebekah Thoelke: soprano Anita Clausing: alto Jonathan Clausing: tenor, bass Maddy Roundey: violin I said, “I will guard my ways, That I may not sin with my tongue; I will guard my mouth with a muzzle, So long as the wicked are in my presence.” I was mute and silent; I held my peace to no avail, And my distress grew worse. My heart became hot within me. As I mused, the fire burned; Then I spoke with my tongue: O LORD, make me know my end and what is the measure of my days; Let me know how fleeting I am! Behold, you have made my days a few handbreadths, And my lifetime is as nothing before you. Surely all mankind stands as a mere breath! Surely a man goes about as a shadow! Surely for nothing they are in turmoil; Man heaps up wealth and does not know who will gather! And now, O Lord, for what do I wait? My hope is in you. Deliver me from all my transgressions. Do not make me the scorn of the fool! I am mute; I do not open my mouth, for it is you who have done it. Remove your stroke from me; I am spent by the hostility of your hand. When you discipline a man with rebukes for sin, You consume like a moth what is dear to him; surely all mankind is a mere breath! Hear my prayer, O LORD, And give ear to my cry; Hold not your peace At my tears! For I am a sojourner with you, A guest, like all my fathers. Look away from me, that I may smile again, Before I depart and am no more! Glory be to the Father and to the Son And to the Holy Spirit; As it was in the beginning, Is now, and will be forever. Amen. Hear my prayer, O LORD, and give ear to my cry; Hold not your peace at my tears! And now, O Lord, for what do I wait? My hope is in you. 3. Verses to the King My heart overflows with a pleasing theme; I address my verses to the king; my tongue is like the pen of a ready scribe. -Psalm 45:1 Jonathan Clausing: lead vocals, mandolin Anita Clausing: harmony vocals Ellen Roundey: cello Steve Hendricks: drums Oh, my heart is overflowing with a theme to sing, And my tongue is like a pen with verses to the King. Best of all the sons of men, You’re blessed eternally. Gird Your sword upon Your thigh in might and majesty. Ride out for truth, righteousness, and the cause of the meek. Let Your hand teach you deeds of which men nobly speak, And Your arrows will pierce their hearts As Your enemies fall under You, As Your enemies fall under You. God, Your throne endures forever, and Your scepter rules Uprightly for righteousness against all wicked fools. God, Your God, marked You anointed with the oil of joy. All Your robes the finest spices fragrantly employ. Music of strings fills Your halls, and the sound makes You glad, And the kings’ daughters stand in Your courts finely clad. At Your right hand above the rest Stands the queen dressed in glorious gold, Stands the queen dressed in glorious gold. Hear, O daughter, and incline your ear: Leave your father’s house and all you hold dear. The King has eyes for you, and it’s you He desires, And to pledge Himself He deeply aspires. Glo’rious, glo’rious is the princess within her room. In many-colored robes she’s led to the King. All her virgin friends walk after the bride and groom. With joy and gladness they sing. Jesus, take the pow’r and glory; Jesus, take the throne. Take the praise of earth and heaven, sea and sky and stone. Take the bride whom You once died for; take her as Your own. Thou shalt reign, and Thou forever; Thou, and Thou alone. 4. Holy Inscrutable Merciful God Oh, the depth of the riches and wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are his judgments and how inscrutable his ways! -Romans 11:33 Jonathan Clausing: vocals, organ, electric guitar Maddy Roundey: violin Nathan Wilhelms: bass guitar Steve Hendricks: drums We came to the edge of the world And we saw just how little we’d traveled We climbed ev’ry peak, spoke all we could speak And we mined to unearth wisdom’s deepest jewels We planned out a paradise And we saw all our plans come unraveled We strove and we sought and we slaved and we bought And we stood empty-handed like muted fools There was God Clouded, shrouded in myst’ry There was God Tell me, you wise, do you really know? Where were you when He laid earth’s foundation? How do you read events here below When He sends sunshine and cancer down? We came to the edge of the world Thus far and not one step farther Our Babel is short, all lookouts report A horizon more vast than we ever dreamed Yet we have heard that God tipped His hand once Gave us a glimpse of His infinite mind Parted the darkness, lifted the curtain Just for an inch to give light to the blind What did we see? It looked like a baby And what did we see, but it looked like a cross And all the weak therein are rejoicing And all the wise are thereby at a loss There was God Lying there in a manger There was God Weeping beside the grave of a friend Washing the feet of lowly disciples Who would have guessed a tomb was His end And His beginning of victory? Now unto Him who staggers all knowing Now unto Him who treads paths of His own Borrowing none, but all things bestowing Gracious Provider of all that we own Father and Son and Spirit together Three persons, one Godhead be glory and laud, Honor and praise, both now and forever Holy, inscrutable, merciful God We came to the edge of the world But God came and tented among us He’s hid in plain sight And all of our might Cannot surpass Christ and Him crucified Our gracious, immutable, never computable, Holy, inscrutable, merciful God 5. Exodus 24:6-11 And he did not lay his hand on the chief men of the people of Israel; they beheld God, and ate and drank. -Exodus 24:11 Rebekah Thoelke: soprano Anita Clausing: alto Jonathan Clausing: tenor, bass, electric guitar Bethany Thoelke: organ And Moses took half of the blood And put it in basins, And half of the blood he threw against the altar. Then he took the Book Of the Covenant And read it in the hearing of the people. And they said, “All that the LORD has spoken we will do, And we will be obedient.” And Moses took the blood And threw it on the people and said, “Behold the blood of the covenant That the LORD has made with you In accordance with all these words.” Then Moses and Aaron, Nadab, and Abihu, And seventy of the elders Of Israel Went up, And they saw The God of Israel. There was under his feet As it were A pavement of sapphire stone, Like the very heaven for clearness. And he did not lay his hand On the chief men of the people of Israel; They beheld God, and ate and drank. 6. Out of the Corner of My Eye [A]nd while my glory passes by I will put you in a cleft of the rock, and I will cover you with my hand until I have passed by. -Exodus 33:22 Jonathan Clausing: vocals, piano See; don’t look. Trust; don’t demand more. Turn to look, and you’ll find it fading. Chase a rainbow; see empty sky. I’ve seen glory, haunting, evading, Only from the corner of my eye. Serve; don’t rule. Give; be forgiven. You’ll be spared what you cannot bear yet In a cleft as God passes by. Still, your heart will burst when you see Him Backward through the corner of your eye. Once I had the tragic misfortune To think that I knew what I wanted from life, So I built a cage to hold ev’ry joy, And I tracked it like prey, and I caught only strife. Joy won’t be found; it will only find us There where we learn how to die. You’ll see it through blood and tears ‘neath the cross Out of the corner of your eye. Holy Spirit, draw us more deeply Into that great myst’ry of Christ crucified, For this world holds much that dazzles our senses, But we’d gladly lose it to see face to face What we’ve seen out of the corner of our eye. 7. That Other Love Because there is one bread, we who are many are one body, for we all partake of the one bread. -1 Corinthians 10:17 Rebekah Thoelke: soprano Anita Clausing: alto Jonathan Clausing: tenor, bass God the Father now and ever loves the Son with perfect love, Never changing, never fading, infinite, divine. God the Son loves God the Father, pure as sunlight from above. God the Spirit loves each Other and receives in kind. O Trinity, blest One in Three, Draw us ever upward to that other love. In the fullness of the ages God the Father gave His Son. From His mansions in the heavens Love to earth came down, Son of God, now Son of Mary, God with creatures’ flesh made one, So to lift our humble nature, grace it with a crown. Incarnate Word, O risen Lord, Draw us ever upward to that other love. We, though many, form one body, for the Body comes to us With the blood once shed for sinners in the bread and wine. Peace to you, my sinful brother; share this gift so marvelous. Pardon all my sin against you; loose this debt of mine. Spirit of grace, now in this place, Draw us ever upward to that other love. 8. The Well Is Deep The woman said to him, “Sir, you have nothing to draw water with, and the well is deep. Where do you get that living water?” -John 4:11 Jonathan Clausing: lead vocals, electric guitar Anita Clausing: harmony vocals Maddy Roundey: violin The well is deep, and I’ve nothing I can draw with. He who speaks is a stranger with a hidden gift. If I only had known, if I had known, I would have asked for more. All alone after love five times had let me down, Life had shown how our dreams fall crashing to the ground. I was outcast by all, outcast by all, But He still spoke to me. I perceived that a prophet spoke who knew my sin. I believed that our own disputes would draw Him in. I asked all the wrong things, all the wrong things. He didn’t seem to mind. Hurry up and see, come and see One who told me ev’rything I’ve ever done in my life. Could the long years be over? Could hope have come to us? Could this be the one we’re looking for? The well is deep, and we’ve nothing we can draw with. He who speaks brings us living water as a gift, And in spirit and truth, spirit and truth Makes our parched souls to sing. Hurry up and see, come and see One who told me ev’rything I’ve ever done in my life. Now the long years are over. Now hope has come to us, For this is the one we’re looking for. 9. Israel So then it depends not on human will or exertion, but on God, who has mercy. -Romans 9:16 Rebekah Thoelke: vocals Maddy Roundey: violin Bethany Thoelke: piano Young Jacob fled from all he had known To make his way in the wider world. Weary head laid on a stone, He glimpsed a stairway from God unfurled, The wild, untamed God who chases men Across the deserts, remote and vast, Lays great promises on them, Extravagant, bold, and unsurpassed. These things you cannot predict or force. These things, they capture you unaware, Leave you on a diff'rent course, Of untold myst'ries the sudden heir. The world is strange with a holy plan, And this is sure: it does not depend On the wants or works of man, But on God's mercy from start to end. So Jacob fled at his uncle's frown, Yet feared his brother back home as well, Wrestled God and pinned Him down And limped away known as Israel. How can a man wrestle God and win? Could mortals pin Him upon a cross? Who would ever have guessed sin Would be atoned for by God's own loss? These things, they capture you unaware. Surprised by mercy, you limp away Touched by water, made co-heir, Named Israel toward that brighter day. To Father, Son, and to Spirit be All praise and honor. This story tell: Wreathed in holy mystery, He chose to call us His Israel. 10. Stars The heavens declare the glory of God, and the sky above proclaims his handiwork. -Psalm 19:1 Jonathan Clausing: lead vocals, acoustic guitar Anita Clausing: harmony vocals Rebekah Thoelke: piano When the evening’s gold horizon Gently fades to still of night Then awaken All the angels And, rim to rim, Heaven’s dome bears jewels of light Look what You have made Look what You have made tonight And a hush falls on the choir hall Billions sing a silent hymn Night calls out and Night gives answer God is enthroned And His children sing for Him Look what You have made Look what You have made tonight Abram saw these sons of promise Made to sing at Eden’s dawn And their message Streamed through heaven Sure as the grace of God Shining on and on Look what You have made Look what You have made tonight And each night must pale at daybreak Great gives way to greater still And the morning Star is rising Our hearts beat faster For all is soon fulfilled Look what You have made Look what You have made Look what You have made tonight 11. Mountains For the creation waits with eager longing for the revealing of the sons of God. –Romans 8:19 Jonathan Clausing: lead vocals Anita Clausing: harmony vocals Maddy Roundey: violin Bethany Thoelke: piano Ellen Roundey: cello Why are you so sad, You gray and misty mountains, Meadowed in pinpricks Of laughing blue and gold? Do you remember things the world forgot? Do you know secrets sweet and fearful? Why are you so sad, You torn and twisted canyons, Lonely as echoes That haunt your silent walls? Oh, how your beauty stings like windblown sand, Fierce as the blist’ring desert sunlight! But it’s hard to tell When the bedrock of the soul Shifts and groans. Is it grief or deepest exultation in your tears? But when the sun hangs low And paints your slopes in mystery, All I know is I want to feel like you do. Your bright skies are the handiwork Of God, our good Creator; Thorns and cruel thistles, The wage of sinful man. Nobly you bear your bondage to decay, Till all the sons of God are shown you. It’s a desert road Stretching out to touch the sky Far away. There where heaven meets the earth are good things bound to be. You know there is a Man Who walked the road for all of us, Stretched out His hands and brought the two together. So why are you so sad, You ancient hills and valleys? Fresh in your memory Is Noah’s mighty flood? Do you remember things the world forgot? Do you know secrets sweet and fearful? Once you were purged and deluged by your God. Once more He’ll make you new again. 12. Jesus Crucified I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me. -Galatians 2:20 Rebekah Thoelke: lead vocals Anita Clausing: harmony vocals Maddy Roundey: violin Jonathan Clausing: acoustic guitar, electric guitar Bethany Thoelke: piano Nathan Wilhelms: bass guitar Steve Hendricks: drums Jesus crucified, Jesus crucified, Meet me at Your cross; Hold me to Your side, Hold me to Your side. All Your friends have gone, All Your friends have gone; Whom have I so true As the friendless One, As the friendless One? They revile Your name, They revile Your name. Write that name on me; Bless me with that shame, Bless me with that shame. They have pierced Your hands, They have pierced Your hands. Those nails were for me; I broke Your commands, I broke Your commands. Oh, how can this be, Oh, how can this be? When God forsook You He accepted me, He accepted me. Water flowed with blood, Water flowed with blood. Heal me with that wound; Wash me in that flood, Wash me in that flood. There entombed You lay, There entombed You lay; Lay me next to You Till we greet the day, Till we greet the day. 13. Good News The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim liberty to the captives and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty those who are oppressed. -Luke 4:18 Jonathan Clausing: vocals, acoustic guitar Maddy Roundey: violin Old Zechariah’s wife, She was a barren one, But Gabriel spoke life: “Your wife will bear a son. It’s not what you must do; It’s what’s been done for you; And that is why it’s called Good, good, good, good, good, good news, Good, good, good, good, good, good news.” Some shepherds in the field Received a sudden fright. The angel then revealed, “Your Savior’s born tonight. It’s not what you must do; It’s what’s been done for you; And that is why it’s called Good, good, good, good, good, good news, Good, good, good, good, good, good news.” John told the crowd perplexed, “I’m not fit to untie The shoes of Him who’s next, One mightier than I. It’s not what you must do; It’s what’s been done for you; And that is why it’s called Good, good, good, good, good, good news, Good, good, good, good, good, good news.” Isaiah’s scroll unrolled, The synagogue was stilled. Jesus said, “This, foretold, Is now right here fulfilled. It’s not what you must do; It’s what’s been done for you; And that is why it’s called Good, good, good, good, good, good news, Good, good, good, good, good, good news.” And now through bread and wine, Through water and God’s word, Comes pardon so divine. You’re freed through what you heard. It’s not what you must do; It’s what’s been done for you; And that is why it’s called Good, good, good, good, good, good news, Good, good, good, good, good, good news.” 14. They Flew No Banners Bright Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us. -Hebrews 12:1 Jonathan Clausing: lead vocals, electric guitar, piano Anita Clausing: harmony vocals Nathan Wilhelms: bass guitar Steve Hendricks: drums They flew no banners bright, streaming in the wind of war. They wore no shining mail, helm, or sword, Yet into battle they were called and forged ahead, Where their confession of the Savior led, Their King and Lord. Called out from ev’ry race, strangers in their native lands, A chosen brotherhood, all made one, With love their weapon, hope they gave and hurt received. Their martyrs’ blood upon the ground was seed. In death they won. And when my hour comes, Faith’s test, where chaff succumbs, Thou who helped them, Make me stand. Make me stand. Make me stand. Make me stand. They are no fools who lose ev’rything they cannot keep And so receive what they cannot lose. Blest are those least ones, hated and despised by all Just like the prophets were who heard the call, Whom God once used. And when my hour comes, Faith’s test, where chaff succumbs, Thou who helped them, Make me stand. Make me stand. Make me stand. Make me stand. And when my hour comes, Faith’s test, where chaff succumbs, Thou who was their fortress, Make me stand. Make me stand. Make me stand. Make me stand. Now we have all around such a cloud of witnesses, And Christ the Lamb who bids come and die. He went before us, who for joy endured the cross, Achieving vict’ry out of seeming loss, And reigns on high. And when my hour comes, Faith’s test, where chaff succumbs, Thou who owns the vict’ry, Make me stand. Make me stand. Make me stand. Make me stand. Make me stand. Make me stand. 15. Growing in Grace But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To him be the glory both now and to the day of eternity. Amen. -2 Peter 3:18 Jonathan Clausing: lead vocals, acoustic guitar Anita Clausing: harmony vocals Bethany Thoelke: piano So blessed is the man Who does not walk or stand Along the paths of scoffers Or join their wicked plans; But God is his delight, His comfort and his might. Upon His scripture he meditates Both day and night. Growing in grace, Rooted in place Upon the word of God In Christ our Lord, We’re strong in God’s embrace. He’s like a planted tree Beside a flowing stream. He bears his fruit in season; His leaves are always green. His drink is Jesus Christ, Who paid the sinners’ price, Who on the cross for all Made atoning sacrifice. Growing in grace, Rooted in place Upon the word of God In Christ our Lord, We’re strong in God’s embrace. And there will come a day When chaff are swept away, The rootless burned in fire And the whole world barren lay; But we will still stand strong. To Jesus we belong, And in His new creation We’ll sing a joyful song. Growing in grace, Rooted in place Upon the word of God In Christ our Lord, We’re strong in God’s embrace. 16. Trust in the Lord Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. –Proverbs 3:5 Jonathan Clausing: vocals, acoustic guitar Trust in the Lord With all of your heart And lean not on your understanding In all your ways Acknowledge Him And He will guide your paths Oh, do not be wise In your own eyes Fear the Lord And pass evil by In all your ways Acknowledge Him And He Will guide your paths Trust in the Lord With all of your heart And lean not on your understanding In all your ways Acknowledge Him And He will guide your paths Oh, do not be wise In your own eyes Fear the Lord And pass evil by In all your ways Acknowledge Him And He Will guide your paths Do not despise The Lord’s discipline When He rebukes you Do not resent Him Because the Lord Rebukes those He loves As a father the son He delights in We are His sons Trust in the Lord With all of your heart And lean not on your understanding In all your ways Acknowledge Him And He will guide your paths Oh, do not be wise In your own eyes Fear the Lord And pass evil by In all your ways Acknowledge Him And He Will guide your paths And He Will guide your paths 17. Sometimes the Crown For now we see in a mirror dimly, but then face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I have been fully known. -1 Corinthians 13:12 Jonathan Clausing: lead vocals, acoustic guitar Anita Clausing: harmony vocals Maddy Roundey: violin Ellen Roundey: cello Sometimes the crown looks like a thorn, The royal robe like mocking scorn, Sometimes the throne looks like a cross, And victory like utter loss While this blind age endures. Sometimes true life appears as death Pure wisdom’s voice as foolish breath. Sometimes the balm looks like a blight. We walk by faith and not by sight While this blind age endures. Sometimes deep awe looks like a bore, Sweet rev’rence like a tedious chore. The gracious means look tired and trite. We walk by faith and not by sight While this blind age endures. Sometimes the saints feel like the damned, Their hope like pain, their rock like sand. Dear brothers look like foes instead, Their future like the grave ahead ‘Till Christ returns to wake the dead. Then scales will fall from our eyes. Then scales will fall from our eyes. And the riddle’s dark mirror will smash into A million shards of forgotten sorrow. And we will see things as they really are, And we will see things as they really are, And we will see things as they really are, And we will see things as they really are. 18. When Comes the Great Day of the Lord A day of wrath is that day, a day of distress and anguish, a day of ruin and devastation, a day of darkness and gloom, a day of clouds and thick darkness. -Zephaniah 1:15 Rebekah Thoelke: soprano Anita Clausing: alto Jonathan Clausing: tenor, bass, trumpet Bethany Thoelke: organ Be silent before Him. Clear the way at the day of the Lord. Your Master shall reckon What He sowed, what is owed by the sword. On that day will sound a Mighty cry lifted high; God impacts history. Dark and gloom, wrath and doom, God acts decisively. True justice will come down When comes the great day of the Lord. You smug and complacent, Bring to mind deaf and blind Israel. God warned them, He pleaded, He implored, they ignored, and they fell. As then was, so will be Safety, peace, wealth’s increase, Comfort, then suddenly Dark and gloom, wrath and doom, God acts decisively. True justice will come down When comes the great day of the Lord. Be silent and rev’rent. See the tree, Calvary, and your Lord. True justice from heaven Placed Him there, guilt to bear, blood outpoured. He cried out, forsaken, Dark and gloom, wrath and doom, Changing all history. Act of grace, in our place Justice fell perfectly. He cried out, “’Tis finished!” When came that great day of the Lord. Now sing out! He’s risen, Reigns alone, flesh and bone, not a wraith. Your Master has reckoned Jesus’ deeds to your needs, free through faith. So fear not; He names you Sons of light, no more night. You were washed perfectly. Live assured; water, word Marked you decisively. You died and were reborn When came that great day of the Lord. The trumpet shall sound forth; All will rise and the skies will be torn. The Savior will come down Bringing woes on His foes; they will mourn. But fear not; His words are, “Child, well done, faithful one, Enter your Master’s joy!” Night is done, dawn has come, Death can no more destroy! We long for that morning When comes the great day of the Lord. 19. Rend the Sky Oh that you would rend the heavens and come down, that the mountains might quake at your presence. -Isaiah 64:1 Jonathan Clausing: lead vocals, electric guitar Anita Clausing: harmony vocals Nathan Wilhelms: bass guitar Steve Hendricks: drums Oh that Oh that You would Rend the heavens And come down Oh that Oh that You would Rend the heavens And come down Once You stretched that vast expanse up on high Once more when it’s over, then rend the sky Touch those Touch those mountains Touch those mountains Make them quake Set fire To that dry wood To that dry wood Make it take Once You stretched that vast expanse up on high Once more when it’s over, then rend the sky We thank You, Father, for Your gifts in the heavens For the sun shining bright For the moon’s gentle light at night For all the rains that fall to water creation For the rainbows You send For the star that led men to Christ But when they all have done the tasks that You gave them Each befitting its type And the time has come ripe to end the world Rend the sky Make known Make Your name known Make Your name known To Your enemies Nations They will tremble They will tremble On their knees Once You stretched that vast expanse up on high Once more when it’s over, then rend the sky Once more when it’s over, then rend the sky 20. And So Passes Another Year Your eyes saw my unformed substance; in your book were written, every one of them, the days that were formed for me, when as yet there was none of them. -Psalm 139:16 Rebekah Thoelke: lead vocals Jonathan Clausing: harmony vocals, acoustic guitar Maddy Roundey: violin Ellen Roundey: cello And so passes another year, And we gather for reflection. Moments painful and moments dear Fill a page that now is turned. God, the Author of history, Has arranged and ordered our days, Stretched out time upon His creation Where His sov’reign narrative plays, Each hour made for His praise. We are time-bound, yet made to last, Mortals meant to live forever, Sinners regretting what is past, Fearing what might come to be. Gracious Author of history, To Whom past and future are now, Look upon this frail stream of moments. With Your grace these moments endow. Humbly grateful, we bow. And millennia slip like sand Through the hour-glass of His story. Adam, Moses, and David stand, Each a page along the way. Then the Author of time Himself Deemed it good to enter His tale. Through a womb, a young virgin mother Within time He walked in death’s vale, Won where all others fail. Joyful, joyful, we mark these days, For our past is now forgiven, And we offer our deepest praise, For our future is secure. God, the Author of history, Has revealed His plan for our days. By His Son He’s written the preface To the age when we will be raised To His infinite praise. 21. Lo! He Comes with Clouds Descending Behold, he is coming with the clouds, and every eye will see him, even those who pierced him, and all tribes of the earth will wail on account of him. Even so. Amen. -Revelation 1:7 Jonathan Clausing: lead vocals, harmony vocals, electric guitar, synthesizer Maddy Roundey: violins Nathan Wilhelms: bass guitar Steve Hendricks: drums Lo! He comes with clouds descending, Once for ev'ry sinner slain; Thousand thousand saints attending Swell the triumph of His train; Alleluia, alleluia! Christ the Lord returns to reign. Alleluia, alleluia! Christ the Lord returns to reign. Ev'ry eye shall now behold Him Robed in glorious majesty; Those who set at naught and sold Him, Pierced and nailed Him to the tree, Deeply wailing, deeply wailing, Shall their true Messiah see. Deeply wailing, deeply wailing, Shall their true Messiah see. Those dear tokens of His passion Still His dazzling body bears, Cause of endless exultation To His ransomed worshipers. With what rapture, with what rapture Gaze we on those glorious scars! With what rapture, with what rapture Gaze we on those glorious scars! Yea, amen, let all adore Thee, High on Thine eternal throne; Savior, take the pow'r and glory, Claim the kingdom as Thine own. Alleluia, alleluia! Thou shalt reign, and Thou alone! Alleluia, alleluia! Thou shalt reign, and Thou alone!
