简介
Dark Hero, TYO Warrior. ralph is the torchbearer for Drill, Grime & beyond in Japan's rising scene, and 24oz is his opening ceremony. ralph's name carries weight in Tokyo - when you hear his growing bass voice and catch sight of his hulking frame with the signature Black Bandana & ASSASSYN Jeanz, everyone knows to fix up. Drawing from a wealth of UK-orientated genres such as Drill, Grime and Garage, ralph is a singular talent in Japan's rap scene. Influenced by the likes of Pop Smoke, Headie One and OZROSAURUS, and indebted to his own experiences growing up mixed-race in Tokyo's suburban fringes, ralph's appetite for global influences sets him out from the pack. Combined with a dextrous lyricism and a machine-gun flow that's infamous throughout Japan, ralph is forging a path of his own through the domestic scene, and 24oz is his declaration of intent for the Global Rap Order. ralph burst onto the scene in 2017 with his an appearance for legendary Tokyo production duo (and longstanding collaborators) Double Clapperz's single, 'Sha Ni Kamaeru'. ralph followed this up with 'Dark Hero' - a collaboration with legendary UK Producers dBridge in 2018. With an underground reputation for laser-precision flows & clever wordplay, he went clear in 2019 with his debut EP, 'Reason'. In 2020, he cemented his position in the elite of Japan's rap scene with the single 'Selfish' (>1 Million YouTube views) and feature on Hideyoshi's global hit: "Jitsuryoku" (>2 Million YouTube views), as well as taking first place in ABEMA TV's 2020 hit show Rapstar. 24oz sees ralph broaden his canvas, as he sets his crosshairs worldwide. Zone is all Cyberpunk swagger as ralph delivers his trademark flow over alien synths. Roll Up kicks the doors down - as gliding 808s underpin tales of stalking through the Shibuya shadows. In WIP, ralph teams up with SEEDA to run helter skelter over a mysterious choral refrain. Window Shopping charts ralph's ascent from growing up in the run-down projects, to buying those same projects. D.N.R. is the undeniable summer jam, as ralph bounces over vintage UK Garage percussion - perfect for cruising through the Tokyo flyovers. RUDEBOY NEEDS sees ralph turn grown'n'smooth - as he takes a moment of introspection on top of an sultry vocal sample. Villains sees ralph team up with C.O.S.A.. showcase his tender side - as he slows down on top muted guitar plucks to look back on his lonely childhood - the story of being mixed-race in Japan - being the "villain".
