This formerly Nashville-based artist who tours in Europe every year, wanted a fresh new sound and the opportunity to work with the innovative, stellar Finnish musicians she works with there. So Alexa James went to Finland to arrange and record her basic tracks, brought them to Los Angeles to do vocals, overdubs and mixes, relocated there, and now brings you her best project to date. But in an effort to scale down and prep for a long awaited move from one end of the country to another, along with a hunger to not carry around physical or emotional pressure and baggage, this song took shape. NOTHING WEIGHS ME DOWN I often place too many expectations on myself and create emotional baggage that isn’t really mine to carry.Tired of feeling that way, this song was birthed. I pray it lifts your spirits. BETTER THAN LOSING YOU Every relationship faces struggles. That’s a given. You’re dealing with humans who are imperfect, so mess ups are inevitable. Yet somehow we seem to think that one person is going to fill and satisfy us where we might feel empty. When there’s a continual series of realizations that this person is not fulfilling those expectations, it seems natural to think., “well, I need to leave this relationship and find someone else” I really connected with this song because I think it proposes a better solution. I want to encourage people to stick it out and work through problems. I think this makes us stronger people, and builds stronger relationships and families.
