From the Big Apple, Queens, New York, to the small streets of Junction City, Kansas, Ahmed Andrew Yates developed a passion for performing at a young age. Since 8 years old, Dru's Mother was entering him in Star Search style competitions and had him performing in front of family and friends at social gatherings. Dru didn't really start taking things seriously until he was in the 8th grade when the passion of music overtook him completely. Dru has done some major performances with his brothers, who are also aspiring rappers/entertainers; they're first big break, was opening for Do or Die in 1996. There were other performances in local venues and clubs, but when Dru's older brother got locked up, Dru decided to take a break from music. Dru continued on to graduate from High School and attend college on a basketball scholarship. After only one year of playing ball in college, Dru bean to feel music calling him once again. Dru decided to step into the booth one last time, and the rush he got from recording solidified his life's goals and aspirations of being a performer. In honor of his brother, Dru is moving forward with his musical dreams and will not stop until he reaches the levels of success hat he knows he is capable of.
