Listening to vandermeer is listening to a very sensitive voice with a smoky finish, surrounded by a notable combo. With their demo-version of "all is fair in love and war", they won the quattropole contest in early 2012, only 2 months after their formation. Their debut album "polygraph" is financed by crowdfunding in february 2013, and released 9 month later. As written in a review, the songs of "polygraph" cannot be arranged in genres. With "stop", "not available" or "I will", there are indie-rock-songs with exactly the right balance between energy and catchy melodies. Between these songs, you’ll encounter some trips into different genres like swing music or spherical synthesizer-sound. Between pop, rock, singer-songwriter, chanson, jazz, a deep drawn sigh.… sometimes a bit of everything, but never too much. Listening to the songs, composed by Harmke and Flo, leaves you with a sweet feeling of wanting more.
