简介

Bill Trujillo has been playing saxophone since he was a kid going to the Palomar Ballroom in Los Angeles where his mother danced. In the 1950s, Trujillo played in the bands of Stan Kenton and Woody Herman before moving to Las Vegas to perform in hotel orchestras behind Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Sammy Davis Jr., Peggy Lee, and other entertainers. He developed a unique sound influenced by Lester Young, Stan Getz, and Charlie Parker. The late great trombonist Carl Fontana added a couple others when he said "Bill Trujillo is the embodiment of the great jazz tenor tradition of Stan Getz, Al Cohn, and Zoot Sims." Bill wrote 12 of the songs on this album, including bebop, bossa novas, and even a dixie swing. He offers his trademark solo and riffs on the acid jazz title track "Vegas," written by Bill's brother Chuck and his nephew Christopher. His son Nick produced the album and his daughter Michelle Marie adds her background vocals for "Vegas," so it's a family affair. And that sums up Bill Trujillo: love of family and love of jazz.
