"Memories of Melancholy Cholas" is an album based in El Paso Texas, inspired by female gang members Zyme One admired as a child growing up in the Segundo Barrio (Second Ward), and Northeast side of town as a teenager. It is an embodiment of personal stories, and shared experiences by friends about heartbreak, death, love, and gangs. After 2 ½ years of writing, and making multiple reminiscent visits to his former neighborhoods, Zyme developed his memoirs into songs.
