简介
Are the band that have been setting audiences alight with their "Party Time" antics and Hot Hot Hot Musical blend of Celtic, Canarian, Cuban, Venezuelan and Canadian tunes along with the rythms and grooves of the Rock , Punk and Jazz worlds The Band were 1st formed in 1991 in Las Palmas Gran Canaria when a Venezuelan immigrant and Scottish tinkie met in a tapas bar and tried to con each other into paying the bill. Luckily both happened to be musicians of the highest standards and having previously survived for years combining their musical gifts, with superb conmanship, recognised each others game eventually. They returned to the bar the following evening with the only means of payment on their meagre persons for the bill (they played for their supper) and discovered a unique musical voice which grew from these humble beginings into the Legend that is now known as "Sex and Violence". Julio Pacheco arrived in Gran Canaria with little more than his guitar and the clothes he had worn on the plane and fortunately a poor vocabulary in English. John Rae had escaped a flourishing Jazz scene in Scotland (The early 90's) with absolutely no Spanish and a Fiddle. Luckily they could only converse at 1st with music and each taught the other the basics of English and Spanish alongside Celtic and South American music. They discovered quickly that not only could they survive with the music, but they were also attracting the attention of the Islands resident musicians and press. Naturally this modern miracle travelled back to their respective homelands and soon musicians from both sides of the Atlantic ocean, were trying to get in on the scene. From the 90's S&V had been touring around the UK and Spain playing in several folk and celtic festivals sharing the stage with people like Oysterband, Capercaille,Sharon Shannon, Wolfstone... Shortly after the recording of this CD the band split up and they haven't made any other recording since, so don't miss the opportunity to own this piece of history in celtic-rock.
