'The Missing Sunrise', by Kananelo Matlolane and Vasily Umanets The work done on this EP has been created around the central theme of an element of universal life namely the sunrise. The 'Missing Sunrise' is a metaphor for something which is missing from our very fundamental existence as human beings. What would our lives be without the sunrise? Can we imagine waking up one day to not see the sun at all? One can imagine that such a day would be almost meaningless. Kananelo and Vasily have created music that depicts this very metaphor and despite the theme of loss and grieving there is a powerful message of hope deeply embedded in the creative and artistic intentions of these two producers. The first track the title song of the EP, 'Missing Sunrise' is a musical portrait of such a loss and the pain of losing a significant person in life. The second track, 'Sunset Boulevard' is named after a thoroughfare that runs through Beverley hills and Los Angeles in California. It is a musical portrait of a deeply fought battle won and the hope of a better tomorrow. The third composition is a bonus track written by Kananelo entitled, 'In Sync' that depicts the gradual process of transcending above adversity and finding the courage to triumph over the challenges that come our way I life. These two artists have woven together a sensitively crafted tapestry which puts us on a journey through loss and grief, to a battle with our darkness into hope, and finally the victory found in life when we find the courage to face our fears and brave the storms of life.
