After the great success of „Raw Meat / Song 2“ by Diazpora in 2012, Our Label Records is back with the next Deep Funk classic to be: „Bastard“ by Spanish Funk outfit Mothergroove. Backed with the midtempo „The Jam“ this is a sure addition for the vinyl-boxes all over the world. Initiated by Italian singer, songwriter and producer Gianni Sciannamé in Barcelona, the group is losely based around him and local musicians Abel Boquera (keyboard), Roger Serrahima (drums) and Brasillian bass player Daniel Doctors. They met during the recording of some Gianni's original songs where he invited several musicians to participate on a new project called "Mothergroove". 
Two of these songs, "In 2My Mind" and "Don't Waste Your Time", where published by UK's independent label "Soul Unsigned" on two EPs in 2008. From there on Mothergroove stayed together, playing on the local scene and appearing at several festivals in Spain. Subsequently they decided to record more original tracks at their rehearsal place with only a bit of equipment, but with the purpose of a nasty and natural sound. "Sessions", their first album, was the product of several recording sessions featuring some of the best horns on the Barcelona scene like David Carrasco on sax and Josep Tutusaus on trombone. Their single "Constellation Man" put them on the map of new funk bands and was included on the "Groovadelia2" collection on Vampi Soul. The band line-up fluctuates between four and seven members, which is due to the "family" approach instilled in the group by Gianni. 
Mothergroove's sound is heavily influenced by the likes of James Brown, Deodato, Banda Black Rio and Roy Ayers. And now they are back with an uptempo dancefloor smash on Our Label Records.
