简介

Rhonda Larson & Ventus are pleased to announce the release their new CD, “Live from China”, which captures the live energy from a twenty-five city tour throughout China. These performances took place in state-of-the-art theaters with an average seating capacity of 1,500-2,000. The recording features eleven different flutes from around the world, including the Native American triple flute, crystal flutes, bansuri, Celtic whistles, dizi, and more. Most of the selections are Grammy winning flutist Larson’s original World Fusion compositions, including arrangements of traditional Celtic, Armenian, Romanian, and Chinese melodies. The Ventus trio is comprised of Chris Rosser on piano/keyboards/electric Oud, Carolyn Koebel on world percussion, and Eliot Wadopian on bass. The CD also offers a “Bonus Track” (not from the China tour) of Rhonda’s new solo, “Metamorphosis”, which took her four years to write due to its inherent complexities and newly-created techniques featuring Rhonda's signature flute/voice unison. “Live from China” was recorded and mixed by Les Kahn, mastered by David Glasser. Sheet music of many of these pieces are available from Rhonda's website under her name plus com. Billboard—“…touches of jazz and world music rhythmic interplay…vibrant, upbeat, marked by precision musicianship.” Connecticut’s VOICES—“…Once every generation there comes along a transformative force that breaks all the industry rules. Larson wields her instrument like a blow torch, breaking down our Victorian preconceptions of what the flute should be, how it should sound and where it should take us…This intensely gifted flutist needed little more than her native Montana charm to win the hearts of the packed house…” The New York Times—“...Rhonda’s evening of flute music radiated. There was a straightforward positive musicality to what she did and it cheered the listener.” MORE ABOUT RHONDA: Rhonda Larson is a Grammy Award-winning player of the flute, born and raised in the mountains of the ‘Big Sky’ country, Montana.
