简介

VistaDeck the Recordlady - I am Christina Johnson, always known as Vistadeck over the years on the internet and since that's how most have known me on the web, I decided that's an appropriate first word to my CD Title - I'm starting with 2 Songs and it will expand as I create more. Recordlady was my first Website, used to document my media background and music info - I had been a radio dj for several decades in Canada and the US - and took this name from a song by Lyle Lovett who inspired me always. I even worked at a radio station on Lovett Blvd. at the time I started using it and when the song came out LOL. I am a Canadian living in Calgary, Alberta - originally from Lachine, Quebec. I have played guitar since I was a teenager, I was and am a rare breed, originally from the suburbs of Montreal but grew up loving Country Music. My first live exposure was when I was 13 and Glen Campbell performed with Ian and Sylvia opening at Place Des Art in Montreal - I had won tickets from CFOX radio, which had been a pop station during the 60's but switched to Country in the '70s, I won the tickets to go to the concert then, and I think that was when my passion really started to take off. I still listened to the top Pop and Rock with my friends but I'd be playing country on my piano and guitar in my basement. I also decided about then I wanted to work in Radio --- over the years I always kept that dream and eventually at 25 I went to study radio at Humber College in Toronto. I had really been studying it and music all my life up to that point in one way or another so really I was out working in the field within weeks of starting the course, it was more of an excuse to get my foot in the door of a radio station than for academic study it seemed. I have been on the air in Calgary, Houston, Texas, Midland/Odessa, Texas, Lafayette, Louisiana, Belleview, Washington, and some places in between. I spent a lot of time working with local musicians, singer-songwriters and interviewing country greats along the way - but now that I have been out of that world for a while, being a homemaker, following my husband's career -- I have decided now is the time to finally work on the songs and music I have in me. At this time I am just starting with some home equipment, I do have a few very beautiful guitars and a fun and practical little Martin Backpacker that I love lol -- most recently hubby bought me a Gibson ES 335 for my 20th Anniversary, how romantic is that? LOL sure is for someone who loves to play guitar :) I love to travel and expect places and experiences will have a lot to do with what I continue to write about, this is my first efforts in recording. I spent a lot of time working with local musicians and singer-songwriters and interviewing country greats along the way - and some rock and pop artists as well as those of other genres - but now that I have been out of that world for a while, being a homemaker, following my husband's career -- I have decided now is the time to finally work on the songs and music I have in me. At this time I am just starting with some home equipment, I do have a few very beautiful guitars usually featuring my Larravee, and sometimes a fun and practical little Martin Backpacker that I love for travel -- most recently hubby bought me a Gibson ES 335 for my 20th Anniversary, how romantic is that? LOL sure is for someone who loves to play guitar :) I have been fortunate to travel for leisure over the years, from the Galapagos Islands to Istanbul, Alaska to Egypt and expect places and experiences will have a lot to do with what I continue to write about, this is my first efforts in recording. I have taken the train across most of Canada .. just need to finish the route from Montreal Eastward and visit the Canadian North - other than once visiting the edge of the Yukon on the White Pass railway from Skagway on a daytrip, but I have done the east coast and across the Atlantic by ship. I have been through most of the US States once on an unlimited rail pass on Amtrak - missed a few but stopped in many and saw a lot of the countryside out the window. There has to be some train songs within me and in my future. I also lived in the Seattle, Houston, and Lafayette, Louisiana areas over a 15 year period. In Canada I have lived in my home town of Lachine, Quebec (West Island of Montreal) where I grew up, Toronto, Ontario where I studied Radio Broadcasting at Humber College and worked for the Canadian Home Shopping Network while I was in school there, answering calls to put them on the air and periodically modeling jewelry in the wee smalls of the night. Not the prettiest sight when you put rings on a guitarist who keeps them short and doesn't bother with nail polish! Here is some of my background info prior to this: I spent many years in radio and working with musicians in Canada and the US before I decided to settle down and focus on my music. I have always supported others in their musical ventures and now that I am just spending time with my own hobbies and pursuits, I and bringing these songs and more from mind to music, words to rhyme. I also decided about then I wanted to work in Radio --- over the years I always kept that dream and eventually at 25 I went to study radio at Humber College in Toronto. Calgary, Alberta Canada *************************************************************************** SONG LYRICS ************************************************************************** Original songs written by me © 2011 Christina (Tina) Johnson December 18, 2011 Based on a true story about a bear finding its way into Downtown Vancouver on Monday Dec 12, 2011 A Bear can End Up Anywhere (12 Bar ) When it gets cold and the food is old, Living off the city, can be tough for a bear, When it gets cold and the food is old, Living off the city, can be tough for a bear, If something goes wrong, a bear can end up anywhere. If he’s Crawling in a truck, Or finding a old bus, When a bear is in a trailer, can’t be good for them or us. A bear can end up anywhere. (Turnaround) A dumpster-diving Bruin, wanted some Urban grub one day, A dumpster-diving Bruin, wanted some Urban grub one day, He was foraging to get fat, like a lazy house cat, His chore’s for each scrap and bite, whatever meal he can find, But while scouting with his snout, he needs to keep his mind, A bear can end up anywhere. (Turnaround) A garbage truck is a moveable feast, can’t be losing his groove, A garbage truck is a moveable feast, the truck starts to move. Soon he was perched on its rail, in downtown Vancouver Hiding in the bush is easy bein’ furry black or brown, But People are going to take pictures of a bear downtown A bear can end up anywhere. (Turnaround) Trying to get free - people see you alright, The North Shore may be from where you have come They call the authorities to help bring you down, and do with a tranquilizer gun. Before the city tour the bear got to the Queen Elizabeth Theatre on his own, Did he want dinner and a show? A bear can end up anywhere once he starts to roam, It could have been an old bus, or a car, good thing he didn’t take a trolley, Because of this jaunt he’ll now have a home in Squamish Valley When it gets cold and the food is old, Living off the city, can be tough for a bear, When it gets cold and the food is old, Living off the city, can be tough for a bear, If his fur was polar-bear white, in Churchill, Man he’s tourist site, . But in downtown Van he’s a rare show, and can’t munch in town he has to go, Living off the City can be tough if you’re a bear, a bear can end up anywhere (turnaround/guitar finish) © 2011 Christina Johnson ************************************************************** I first wrote this song the very first time I visited the Rocky Mountains - I had moved out west from Montreal the first time from Montreal and went from Edmonton to Jasper. This was also the beginning of my first song I have written, other than when I was a teenager I wrote hymns at church. That was quite a few years ago, and only the chorus and refrain have remained the same over the years. Since then I have had my wedding at the Banff Springs, gone Fly Fishing, trail riding and so much more in the Rockies, rail trips across the mountains etc. and decided there was so much more to sing about other than visiting the mountains and playing my guitar, which I still do. I recently re-write most of it except for those parts and brought it up to date - and here you have many years of weekend visits, special celebrations, happy getaways, spur of the moment trips all put into this joyful ditty that I hope can bring you, at least in though, to the Canadian Rockies for a time. On a clear day, they always beckon to me as I see them in the distance from my home in Calgary, Alberta Canada. ¬¬¬¬ROCKY MOUNTAIN HOLIDAY - © 2011 Christina Johnson What a week and what a time, Five days I stressed No hour was mine, I need a break to feel renewed. Let’s leave town before I come unglued. Pass the border line, the limit of the City, Life becomes easy, and so pretty. We can head to Jasper or maybe Banff, ride the rails, take the trails, Anyway you want to go, I’ll get some Tim’s along the way, A Rocky Mountain Holiday. I’ll see sunlit peaks of crystalline snow. Oh won’t you come with me on the road again, let’s not let anyone know, where we intend to go! (chorus) It’s a Rocky Mountain Holiday a Rocky Mountain getaway, we can do anything, All there’ll be is you and I, the mountains and the Alberta Sky my guitar and a song to sing, We can fish the mountain streams, Leave the city and all it means, Maybe see moose along the way, Trail ride at Lake Louise, Hit the resort for High Tea, The Rockies are just a holiday a way! Oh won’t you come with me on the road again, let’s not let anyone know, where we intend to go! (chorus) It’s a Rocky Mountain Holiday a Rocky Mountain getaway, we can do anything, All there’ll be is you and I, the mountains and the Alberta Sky my guitar and a song to sing, Hiking Boots and cowboy hats, turn off the lights and feed the cats, Grab some gear and gas up fast – we’ll be on the route! Going where the elk roam, coyotes howl and wild fish spawn – Making our getaway On our Rocky Mountain Holiday! Log cabins line the pine tree road, One day we can just leave our load There’s no reason we can’t stay there day to day, Its not that far, and yet seems to be It’s Where my heart is always free But for now, a Rocky Mountain Holiday is fine with me. © 2011 CHRISTINA JOHNSON
