Vol. 5 is the fifth 6-song CD from American singer-songwriter, James Casto. This might be Casto's most reflective collection of songs in the series. He reveals some dark days in "Barely Hanging On" and "Left Side of the Bed" along with undying optimism in "Hope Enough" and "Weapons of Mass Salvation." The only co-write on the CD is the country-pop tune "Shake Off the Dust" written with JP Williams. The CD closes on an up note with the fun pop vibe of "In Love" which features the versatile background vocals of Rodney Ingle.

Three of the tracks were recorded at Sunset Blvd. Studios in Brentwood, TN and the balance of songs were recorded at Bill Kahler's studio outside of Atlanta, GA. A-list studio players such as Sonny Lallerstedt, Dave Cleveland, Mark Hill, Jason Webb, Matt Pierson, Cheryl Rogers, and Steve Brewster contribute to the project.
