简介
Although this album was produced in about two years, the songs are largely about events that took place over the course of an 8-year relationship, with all its ups, downs and in-betweens. As a result, it starts out playful, goes to humorous places, manic places, descends into darkness and comes backs out again, covering a gamut of emotions. I’d liken it to all of the most unapologetically passionate relationships, because it was inspired by nothing less. It’s funny how things have a tendency to come full-circle, like a camera lens, blurring, sharpening, then blurring again. I released my first album the same exact way I released this one (although with a lot more technical experience, and emotional experience, for that matter, this time around). “Aperture” can mean many different things. It can refer to the photographer who changed my life forever. It can mean a gap; a rift. And it can be a space through which light passes. In this case, I think it is all of those things. I’d like to thank everyone who contributed to this album; Adam Schnitzmeier, Jimmy Bartlett, Sulleiman Omar, Lea Luna, the love of my life, Allie, and my second love, my stepson, Asher. Without your creative input, advice, inspiration and love, this wouldn’t exist. And, of course, you, the listener. Thank you for taking the time to listen to this. But ultimately, this one is for you and the boy, Allie. I love you both so much.
