Over the last 6 years Andy Armstrong and Marta Bayly have carved out a well-recognised niche in the Adelaide folk scene. The duo, known simply as, 'Andy & Marta' are about to release their eagerly awaited third album. “Dressed in blue” is Andy & Marta stripped back to what they do best – two acoustic guitars and two voices blending in beautiful harmony. Recorded by Brett Sody at Sodypop in Norwood SA, the album is sparsely arranged and focuses on the quality of the vocal sound. Drawing from a deep well of influences and experiences, Andy and Marta pour out their songs with an ear for sifting out the true and essential elements. Rich, emotive vocals overlap and intersect with intricate, rhythmic and soulful guitars, fingerpicking the heart. This album is a close listen. There's vulnerability in the words and voices which speak directly into the ear like a whisper of a confidant, an old friend. The track list showcases the breadth of the duo’s range - from the delicate dreamlike reverie of the title track to the driving optimism of ‘She’s coming home’, the breathtaking and ethereal ‘Promise’ to an elegant country jaunt, ‘Dancing in the moonlight’, featuring violin by Mick Albeck.
