Soundspace are delighted to present to you the fourth instalment in our catalogue, the Fires EP from Fion. This talented young producer caught our attention a couple years ago with two wonderfully raw collaborations with Splendor & Squalours Brame, and has since taken huge steps in carving out his own brand of sample-heavy, feel good house music. With productions on household names such as Dirt Crew and Madtech as well as a range of tremendously well received free downloads, it is with great pleasure that we welcome Fion to the Soundspace family. Comprised of two choppy house cuts, this nifty two-tracker gives a great insight into the Galway-based producers range and style. Up first is the title track, a six minute jaunt through glittering synth lines, sweeping pads and dreamy harp strokes. These softer sounds are bolstered with intricate percussion and a lead vocal thats so alluring it will leave an imprint on your mind long after youre gone. Whether youre at the club, on the boat or at the beach, this is the perfect summer party tool. Rounding off the project we have Cape Verde, a jazzy, laid back roller thats in no rush to get its point across. Soulful vocals and lofty melodies unfold over layers and layers of gentle percussion and expert sampling. With so many elements at play, this track is a real exhibition in creating rich and emotive harmonies. After a turbo-charged release from label co-owner Peter Gibney, this project represents a dramatic shift in the style of our output. Rather than being interpreted as a lack of direction, this signifies our refusal to be pigeonholed and our unwavering commitment to promoting the most deserving and forward-thinking music around.
