Once upon a time David Anderson and Esther's father Dwight Rogers attended college together and on Sundays they would often stay late after church to play hymns. Twenty-five years later the tradition was revived as David and Esther began playing weddings, funerals, and church services together often concluding with an impromptu postlude to improvise on their favorite songs and tunes. Esther hoped to gather some of these improvisational moments in Sacred Wanderings and so the recording was created with brief planning and rehearsals; each free to follow their own inspiration in the moment. Whether the recording takes ended in laughter, groans, or a reflective 'Amen' from David, the resulting recording will be a treasured glimpse of many fine memories of music making. David is a life-long church and accompanying pianist with a gift for classical improvisation. Esther is a classical cellist with a masters degree in performance, who enjoys getting off the written page.
