简介
David Holyoake is a contemporary composer. He is fascinated by music as deep language, and as potent magic. Australian born, with European parents, and now dividing his time between Belgium and London, his compositions are receiving increasing recognition and performances throughout the UK, Australia, Belgium and beyond. David is an award winning composer, and his works are accessible, technically challenging, and have been described as displaying emotional depth. This album is a 'sampler' containing a broad selection of his music, from new classical music (chamber and solo works) through to lighter jazz creations for film or theatre. It is a great starting point to discover the music of David Holyoake. David is published with Reed Music and is represented as an Associate Artist of the Australian Music Centre. Interested in the concept of collective genetic memory, David sometimes incorporates echoes of music from other cultures (India, North Africa, Asia) into his music in subtle ways, and this can be heard in a number of the tracks on this album, - in particular the evocative work for solo harp, with its subtle echoes of flamenco and the music of North Africa.
