简介

Monostereo is a three piece act out of Seattle that combines a variety of influences including, but not limited to, power pop, hookabilly, indie-rock, and alt-country.  The trio comprised of Lea Tucker (Vocals/Guitar), Ian Curry (Drums), and Sasha Parks formed in late 2004 after a quick lineup change prior to entering the studio to record with Jon Auer of The Posies.  The new ep titled "Evil Awesome", will be released soon and will feature 6 new songs all recorded and produced by Jon Auer in Seattle. The band began working on the album with Jon back in late November 2004 and with Mr. Auer's busy schedule the band was able to be wrapped up in April and considering whats on Posies front man's proverbial plate these days, thats not too bad. Needless to say, the band is pretty excited for the ep to be released, (set for Fall '05) and even more excited to get out on the road to promote it . Its the most polished recording to date and features 3 minute irresistably catchy pop songs with rich layered vocal harmonies. Jon Auer even lends his vocal and multi-instrumental skilz on a few tracks. Before all this, their first demo aptly titled "Monostereo", was recorded just as the original lineup had formed.  The demo consisted of 5 tracks recorded in a quasi-live setting over a couple of hours at a friend's studio with vocals added afterwards and sometimes as an afterthought.  The end result was a rough, raw, and stripped to the core mix of post-pop and Americana influenced rock that immediately brought to mind influences of Cowboy Junkies at times as well as more indie-oriented acts such as Guided By Voices.  Two of the tracks were featured on the 2003 Mystery Sampler CD available at Easy Street Record Stores around Seattle and compiled in association with The Milk Bar and Echo Siberia, a non-profit musician's resource.  The tracks were also webcast on Milkbar's Live365.com radio format. In June 2003 the band along teamed up with Eric Johnson, a local engineer for work on a new demo EP entitled Souvenir.  The result is an eclectic 5 track EP which ventures down a heavier and more experimental path then the previous demo had dared go.  Songs such as "Three Chord Skateboard" and "Bent" feature amped-up backing vocals and more layered guitars.  The title track, "Souvenir", reveals a more intentional, hands-off approach in the post-production, helping it stand out from other songs on the EP.  Tracks 4 ("Further") and 5 ("Hersay") bring forth a sense of added urgency as vocal tracks intertwine back and forth, wavering in and out of the melodies. Since the release of Souvenir, the band completed their first video for the track "Bent".  Ross Williams, a local director, took his Super 8 and with the help of his Imac, shot the band on their way to a practice.  The stop-action film technique and syncopated feel mesh well with the Track's rolling melody and circadian rhythm.  The video was submitted to Screenplay Inc, a Seattle Video promotions company for distribution in over 100 music-oriented retail outlets around the country.  The video was also featured in The 20,000 Leagues Under The Industry, music video conference in Cleveland Ohio in April 2004 along with other indie acts RJD2 and Broken Social Scene.  With the EP set for release this fall, the band will be hitting the road in the late fall, bringing the music to the masses, one jaded indie rock fan at a time
